Web Site Age Ratings

Interesting article about applying “cinema-style” age ratings to web sites. Now, if they were truly talking about doing that, I think that would be great. Of course, you have to realize that movies are rated on a voluntary basis. And that’s about all there is to it. That’s NOT all that Andy Burnham wants. Read his words carefully:

ISPs, such as BT, Tiscali, AOL or Sky could also be forced to offer internet services where the only websites accessible are those deemed suitable for children.

In other words, it’s not about letting people determine for themselves what they want to be exposed to, it’s about government completely and totally regulating ALL content on the Internet. And he goes further:

If you look back at the people who created the internet they talked very deliberately about creating a space that Governments couldn’t reach. I think we are having to revisit that stuff seriously now.

Again, he’s making it quite clear that he cannot stand that anything should exist outside of government.
At the same time, he claims

This is not a campaign against free speech

But, of course, it clearly is:

We have got to get better at defining where the public interest lies

Again, he wants personal control over the entire Internet. Your site will not exist on the Internet unless Mr. Burnham personally approves it. And if you attempt to show anything he doesn’t like, he wants to jail you. And he’s claiming to be doing it “For The Children.” He’s evil, pure and simple. He opposes freedom with every fiber of his being.

Of course, what will likely happen if he gets his way is that the same type of people who developed the Internet will then let him have his personal Internet — and they’ll just develop another one. Freedom has a way of defeating government thugs.

Anti-Capitalists

So, did you catch this headline the other day? It said, “Text Rip-Off? Pricey Messages ‘Cost Virtually Nothing’ to Carriers.” It’s an article that claims that while people are paying a lot to send text messages, it doesn’t cost a lot for the carrier.

Now if you are one who pays a lot for text messages, you might be angry. If you are, you, and this article, are opposing capitalism. Before you read this article, if you were one pay to 20 cents to send a message, you were happy with it. After all, if you weren’t, you just didn’t pay it. That’s how freedom and capitalism work. If you are free and the seller is free, you both agree on a price that you both like. You both walk away happy. You got to send your message for a price you agreed with (because you weren’t forced to pay it), and the seller sent your message.

It’s called freedom. And I know a LOT of people hate it — like the folks at Fox News who wrote and published that article. And of course, government, in the form of Wisconsin Sen. Herb Kohl, the chairman of the Senate antitrust subcommittee, is working hard to stop you from having that freedom. Herb thinks that HE knows how much you should pay for, well, everything. That’s called socialism and it’s opposed to freedom.

Here’s how things would work in a free country: “I’ll give you 20 cents to send that.”
“Okay.”

That’s all. No one has to ask how much something cost. When is the last time you asked Wal-Mart how much they paid for a loaf of bread? Do you know how much the Quick-E-Mart paid for a gallon of gas? Have you ever asked Lowe’s how much they paid for the lumber they’re selling you?

In a free, capitalist country — which America is not — it doesn’t matter. When you have economic freedom, two parties agree on a price both benefit from. It doesn’t matter how much anyone else paid for anything.

The Call to Dunkirk

I couldn’t agree more. I love this line:

Our forefathers marched, bled, and even died so we would not have to accept the kind of inferior education that is currently inflicted on many minority students. And if you ask me, we need to march some more. And the first place we need to march is right out the front door of those Christ-dishonoring, academically inferior, soul-killing government indoctrination centers.

It’s from Exodus Mandate.

The Agressor

I bet you have gotten this in e-mail. In case you haven’t:

Katie Couric, Charlie Gibson, Brian Williams and a tough old U.S. Marine Sergeant were captured by terrorists in Iraq . The leader of the Iraqi terrorists told them he’d grant each of them one last request before they were beheaded and dragged naked through the streets.

Katie Couric said, ”Well, I’m a Southerner, so I’d like one last plate of fried chicken.” The leader nodded to an underling who left and returned with the chicken. Couric ate it all and said, ”Now I can die content.”

Charlie Gibson said, ”I live in New York , so I’d like to hear the song The Moon and Me’ one last time..” The terrorist’s leader nodded to another terrorist who had studied the Western world and knew the music. He returned with some rag-tag musicians and played the song. Gibson was satisfied.

Brian Williams said, ”I’m a reporter to the end. I want to take out my tape recorder and describe the scene here and what’s about to happen. Maybe, someday, someone will hear it and know that I was on the job till the end.” The leader directed an aide to hand over the tape recorder and Williams dictated his comments. He then said, ‘Now I can die happy.”

The leader turned and said, ”And now, Mr. US Marine, what is your final wish?”

”Kick me in the butt,” said the Marine.

”What?” asked the Islamic terrorist, ‘Will you mock us in your last hour?”

”No, I’m NOT kidding. I want you to kick me in the butt,” insisted the Marine.

So the terrorist shoved him into the yard and kicked him in the butt. The Marine went sprawling, but rolled to his knees, pulled a 9 mm pistol from inside his cammies and shot the leader dead. In the resulting confusion, he emptied his sidearm on six terrorists, with his knife he slashed the throat of one with an AK-47, which he took, and sprayed the rest of the terrorists killing another 11!

In a flash, all of them were either dead or fleeing for their lives.

As the Marine was untying Couric, Gibson and Williams, they asked him, ”Why didn’t you just shoot them all in the first place? Why did you ask
him to kick you in the butt?”

”What!?!” replied the Marine,”and have you three report that I was the aggressor?”

Carnival of Christmas

The Carnival is up. For those who aren’t familiar with such things, a carnival post is a post that’s a round-up of a lot of other posts on one subject — in this case, Christmas! So if you want to read a lot of interesting posts about Christmas, that’s the place to go. After all, there’s nothing more appearing here for the next day or so — I’m going to celebrate the Birth of Jesus with my family.

I thank all of you good readers who stop by to read this, and I hope you see and hear the true meaning of Christmas just a little more this year. And no, I’m not talking about peace on earth or the joy of giving — I’m talking about the birth of the savior of mankind. Be sure and stop by Pirate’s Cove later on, I’m sure he’ll have the Peanuts version of the meaning of Christmas up soon, too!

Merry Christmas to All!

Black Racists Promote Racism

So, have you heard about John C. and Maggie Anderson? They are trying to do a massive promotion to only judge and deal with people based on the color of their skin. In fact, these two are working hard to encourage others to shun and refuse to do business with people simply because the color of their skin. They want a recovery from the current economic downtown only for those with the same skin color as they, and they are actively working hard to ensure that people with different color skin fail.

Why? Because they want their children to be racists, too. I’m not kidding.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

Sorry, Mr. Martin Luther King, but there are people like the Andersons who are using advances you gave them to ensure that your dream never comes true.

1957 vs. 2007

I’m sure most of you have seen this passed on through e-mail. I know that’s where I’ve gotten it — again and again. But it’s good, so I want to publish it here, with a few of my comments, if you don’t mind. I guess what I’m amazed about most is the vast number of very foolish people who actually support the examples from 2007.

HIGH SCHOOL — 1957 vs. 2007
Scenario 1:

Jack goes quail hunting before school and then pulls into the school parking lot with his shotgun in his truck’s gun rack.

1957 - Vice Principal comes over, looks at Jack’s shotgun, goes to his car and gets his shotgun to show Jack.

2007 - School goes into lock down, FBI called, Jack hauled off to jail and never sees his truck or gun again. Counselors called in for traumatized students and teachers.

So where’s the harm in a shotgun at the school? No, seriously. I know there are many people today who are absolutely terrified of pieces of metal in the shape of guns. However, I wish those people would just take their fear and keep it to themselves. In our example, not only did Jack not harm anyone, nor was anyone in danger, if anything people were MORE safe because of the gun! It is true that when people know they might be shot, they tend to behave better.

Instead, in 2007, the simple act of having a gun on your person is enough to get you thrown in jail and your life completely ruined. People might claim we still have a second amendment, but I would disagree. I submit that there are more places today where you will be jailed for just having a gun than there are where that’s not the case. We have no second amendment today, and with Democrats in charge, you can be sure there will be fewer and fewer guns around for people to use to protect themselves from government.

Scenario 2:
Johnny and Mark get into a fist fight after school.

1957 - Crowd gathers. Mark wins. Johnny and Mark shake hands and end up buddies.

2007 - Police called and SWAT team arrives — they arrest both Johnny and Mark. They are both charged them with assault and both expelled even though Johnny started it.

Breaking news for liberal weenies (especially those in these government schools): people have been fighting since Cain and Abel, and no amount of laws is going to make them suddenly stop. Once again, like most of these examples, this is government interfering where it doesn’t belong. In the example, who is hurt? No one! That’s how male kids fight — they make up and it’s over. But no, in today’s insane liberal government school system, their lives are ruined forever. No, I’m not supporting having fights — I’m just pointing out that they are a part of growing up. When government stops people from growing up, they end up with immature adults — as you can clearly see by looking around today.

Scenario 3:

Jeffrey will not be still in class, he disrupts other students.

1957 - Jeffrey sent to the Principal’s office and given a good paddling by the Principal. He then returns to class, sits still and does not disrupt class again.

2007 - Jeffrey is given huge doses of Ritalin. He becomes a zombie. He is then tested for ADD. The school gets extra money from the state because Jeffrey has a disability.

Just disgusting. This is just one of the huge reasons that I strongly oppose public schools. They WILL drug your child, whether you want them to or not — primarily because it gets them more cash. Keep in mind, the primary purpose of government education systems today is to get and spend taxpayer cash. Brainwashing children is just a side benefit. Paddling works, no matter who fool tells you otherwise or claims it’s “abuse.” It is not abuse, it’s punishment. And it’s damn appropriate at times.

Scenario 4:

Billy breaks a window in his neighbor’s car and his Dad gives him a whipping with his belt.

1957 - Billy is more careful next time, grows up normal, goes to college and becomes a successful businessman.

2007 - Billy’s dad is arrested for child abuse. Billy is removed to foster care and joins a gang. The state psychologist is told by Billy’s sister that she remembers being abused herself and their dad goes to prison. Billy’s mom has an affair with the psychologist.

Once again, there is such a thing as physical punishment — and it works! People tend to avoid pain, especially children. And despite all those foolish do-gooders intents, what matters in cases like this is the results. Preventing a parent from disciplining their child WILL screw up the child and the family — not that the typical social worker do-gooder cares, as long as they get their paycheck. And you can be sure, such agencies measure success by the number of people they can screw up and families they can destroy — because they get more taxpayer cash that way.

Scenario 5:

Mark gets a headache and takes some aspirin to school.

1957 - Mark shares his aspirin with the Principal out on the smoking dock.

2007 - The police are called and Mark is expelled from school for drug violations. His car is then searched for drugs and weapons.

Why is it that since the left insists that the war on terrorism is a failure that they can’t admit that the war on drugs is even more of a failure? Can you show anything that shows any part of the war on drugs has had any success in ANY measurable way? I don’t think it can be done. And this “zero tolerance” in government schools is so beyond stupid, I can’t believe that people can actually keep a straight face when they claim “I’m just doing my job” when they arrest people for having aspirin. But amazingly, thanks in part to the government education brainwashing, so many agents of government have no problem following any orders they are given — no matter how foolish, insane, or unconstitutional those orders might be.

Scenario 6:

Pedro fails high school English.

1957 - Pedro goes to summer school, passes English and goes to college.

2007 - Pedro’s cause is taken up by state. Newspaper articles appear nationally explaining that teaching English as a requirement for graduation is racist. ACLU files class action lawsuit against the state school system and Pedro’s English teacher. English is then banned from core curriculum. Pedro is given his diploma anyway but ends up mowing lawns for a living because he cannot speak English.

Once again, this one is about cash. If Pedro fails, the school might be punished with less cash. If Pedro passes, then the school gets awards and more cash. Therefore, Pedro passes. And of course, that doesn’t even go into the people who are today claiming that “immigrant” is a special, protected, preferred class of race (while working people are not). And one thing that shows how insane and foolish all these people are who are demanding kids not learn English is the number of places around the world who speak English. Ever look at foreign universities in countries around the world? The vast majority of them speak English and want instructors who speak and can teach in English. But again, the self-serving bums who demand that English not be required care about themselves and no one else.

Scenario 7:

Johnny takes apart leftover firecrackers from the Fourth of July, puts them in a model airplane paint bottle and blows up a red ant bed.

1957 - Ants die.

2007- ATF, Homeland Security and the FBI are all called. Johnny is charged with domestic terrorism. The FBI investigates his parents — and all siblings are removed from their home and all computers are confiscated. Johnny’s dad is placed on a terror watch list and is never allowed to fly again.

Have you noticed the common theme here? Who was hurt in this example? That’s right, no one. No one was bothered, no one was in danger. And no, I don’t give a darn about some ants. But today’s government honestly doesn’t care about the purpose of a government in a free society. Government should be concerned and involved when people endanger other people — not EVER when people endanger themselves. But as you can see, government is more interested in creating criminals than permitting freedom today.

Scenario 8:

Johnny falls while running during recess and scrapes his knee. He is found crying by his teacher, Mary. Mary hugs him to comfort him.

1957 - In a short time, Johnny feels better and goes on playing.

2007 - Mary is accused of being a sexual predator and loses her job. She faces 3 years in State Prison. Johnny undergoes 5 years of therapy.

Now admittedly today there are a HUGE number of sexual predators in the government school system. But a hug by a teacher or a kiss by a 6-year old are not them. One of the reasons government schools are so bad is because the teachers are so limited. Give them a little freedom and they might actually be able to teach kids. But today, anything that allows freedom is simply not permitted, especially in anything associate with government!

So I hope you enjoyed my comments on the e-mail I’m sure you have received. And I wish just one person who supports each of these examples for 2007 would get their butts up and move out of America and leave me alone. But since they are making cash off my labor, I’m betting that’s not going to happen, is it?

Another Meteorologist Agrees With Me

CNN meteorologist Chad Myers has finally come to the conclusion I’ve been saying for years — it’s simply self-centered and incredibly arrogant to say that man, with a few gas engines, is capable of altering the world’s climate. We can’t even figure out how to reliably keep cockroaches and ants out of houses, but yet we’re supposedly powerful enough to change the climate of the planet? Sorry, Mr. Myers is with me — it’s just self-centered arrogance to assume that’s the case.

Well, that and the cash people are making off the Religion of Global Warming, of course.

If this were a Republican administration, you can bet that the reports from the media would include, “Emanuel should resign because of the seriousness of the allegations.” And there is no doubt he would resign.

But since this is a Democrat administration, it’s met with the standard Democrat line: “We deny everything.” And no one will resign unless they are actually placed in jail, and perhaps not even then.

Cash for NC Government

I would like to join in with the Civitas Institute and propose and extra $130 million that the state of North Carolina can use for government purposes. No, I’ve not lost my mind. Instead of the standard line of North Carolina Democrats, I’m NOT going to propose that the cash come from working people.

Instead, in this time of economic crisis, I’m going to suggest that we need to do a little belt-tightening and reductions. We need to consider what’s best for all people — and I suggest that government not spend $130 million to buy land so they can use the money for other, more important things.

Of course, in a government dominated by Democrats, there’s not much hope for this idea, is there? Instead, look forward to Democrat-run government in North Carolina to continue to take more from working people, claiming that YOU need to sacrifice — while government continues to expand spending in every area. And don’t believe it when you hear about government “cuts” without seeing the details. In MOST cases, when government claims to be “cutting” spending, that actually means they are spending MORE money.

The Christmas Story

I just saw a video that was “on the street” interviews with unsuspecting people, like Jay Leno used to do. However, instead of asking obvious questions like, “Do you know the name of the Vice President,” they asked another question that I really thought was obvious: “What is the Christmas Story?” The answers that were given were really scary. One women even said something along the lines of “Gift giving, and I think there’s some religious undertones.”

To combat the massive amounts of disinformation out there, I’d like to offer a little bit of information about the actual Christmas story — not the stuff you’re going to see in cartoons and “holiday” specials this season. And keep in mind, the “holiday” that happens in December is Christmas. This isn’t a “celebration” for any other holiday, no matter what you’re told. No, this isn’t a “winter solstice” break for celebrating “all” religions. That’s not what this is about.

Plain and simple, America was founded as a Christian nation, and one of the most important celebrations of the Christian religion is Christmas. That’s why everything else surrounding this time of year exists — even if that’s not why Christmas exists.

Instead, Christmas is about something very simple, but incredibly powerful. Christmas is the celebration of God sending His Son to earth to forgive man from his sin. It’s not about making cash. It’s not a movie. It’s not about Frosty the snowman or Santa Claus. It’s the savior of the world who was born on Christmas Day. God gave his one and only son so that YOU could have all your sins forgiven. Just think about that a little today, one week before Christmas. If you want to know more, please do contact me (there’s a link up there on the top right side of the page).
