New President, New Rules

Diane Feinstein has the dubious honor of being the first sitting member of Congress to propose new rules that ONLY apply to her messiah, the right reverend, the unquestionable, the Obama. My guess is that this will just be the first one. I expect to see lots more rules changed for The Obama, and other rules that will apply to everyone BUT The Obama.

Feinstein said, basically, “I am in control. I do not like people exchanging things of value. I, and only I, will determine exactly how much things are worth, and if people try and voluntarily exchange items of value for an agreed-upon price, I WILL JAIL OR KILL THEM.” Sorry, but that is what she said, even if it was in a more PC-like language.

NC State Capital Election Results

Looking back at the statewide election results, I was quite surprised. In past years, the blatant gerrymandering of districts was quite clear. This election, however, it looks, well, not fair, but at least balanced.

For what it’s worth, 58.86% of people voted straight ticket Democrat, 40.27% voted straight ticket Republican, and 0.86% voted straight ticket Libertarian. I’m not sure what this means, because people could, as I did, select straight ticket, then go back and select other individuals in single races. However, those numbers are pretty historically correct, because North Carolina, despite it’s tendency to vote Republican for President and judges, is a Democrat STRONGHOLD — ever since the Democrat Party instigated a violent coup over a hundred years ago and killed blacks for voting Republican. But back to this years’ results.

I’ll present the numbers and the details — you decide if you think the election process is “fair.”

State Senate: 50 seats up for grabs. 51.76% people voted Democrat; 47.14% voted Republican; and 1.10% voted Libertarian. That should result in 25 Democrats, 24 Republicans, and 1 Libertarian in the State Senate. In reality, it’s 30 Democrats and 20 Republicans. Oh, and 21 seats were completely unopposed — just one person running. And of the 50 seats, only 6 had a “competitive” race — the winner won by less than 5%. In other words, 44 Senate seats were decided long before the “election” of last Tuesday. The people had no say in 88% of the Senate seats.

State House: 120 seats up for grabs. 54.64% people voted Democrat; 44.49% voted Republican; and 0.87% voted Libertarian. That should result in 66 Democrats, 53 Republicans, and 1 Libertarian in the House. In reality, it’s 68 Democrats and 52 Republicans. Not bad. 69 of the 120 seats were completely unopposed. Of the 120, only 10 were competitive. Yes, 110 of the 120 seats were decided long before the “election.” That’s 92% of the seats where the election had no purpose.

Tell me again why we had an election day? Oh, right, to claim that we’re a Republic. Well, as long as we claim it, it must be so, right? We can claim we have free elections because 90% of people were free to pick one of one candidates.
