Happy Labor Day Weekend

Well, it’s time to start fall now. The Labor Day weekend begins, and so begins the (slightly) cooler weather and Labor Day weekend parties. This year, I’m not going to write about Labor Day — because I think that’s been covered a lot. I tried to find my last year’s post about it, but the old site is so buried with spam that I can’t find anything there. :(

But this weekend, as you head about to your parties and cookouts; as you head to your baseball games and block parties, just take one moment, will you, and be thankful for what you have. Think about all the people who, this weekend, have nothing — or have less than you. Think of the people who can’t afford to go to a party, or are starving because they can’t afford food. Now I’m not advocating we use people with guns (government) to take from some to help them — I think we should each help them in whatever way we can. That’s what I’m going to do this weekend instead of going to the afternoon baseball game on Monday and the other celebrations. I’ll be back late next week. Have a nice Labor Day!

Muppets Return to TV?

Now here’s some possible good news: The Muppets might return to television! Oh, now I KNOW that’s going to bring back some memories for a lot of people. I know I’ve got lots of good memories about the muppets and everything about them. What cool songs. I was just listening to munuh munuh the other day…

“Black” = Forbidden

If you say the word “black” to describe something that is the color formerly known as black, you may be fired. No, you don’t have to say it in a mean way. Nope, the person who you’re talking to doesn’t even have to be offended. Instead, today, if ANYONE HEARS YOU, who decides to be “offended,” you’re fired.

I’m not sure how we’re supposed to describe things. Things that you can say now that will get you fired:

They just paved my road with BLACKtop.
Those sure are some BLACK clouds up there.
I’m not going in that water, it’s BLACK.
The suspect has long, greasy, BLACK hair.
I just bought a new BLACK shirt.
Which logo do you like better, the BLACK one or the white one?
See that person over there, the one with BLACK skin?
I’d like to join the BLACK political caucus.

Government today is so worthless, it’s beyond words to describe it. And yes, it was government that decided to fire someone because they were overheard describing a black person as, well, as black person.

Olympics Closing Ceremony

What if a Chinese rebel pulled off the biggest practical joke in history, and nobody got it?

Blogburst logo, petition

In contrast to architect Paul Murdoch’s dirty trick (trying to plant a terrorist memorial mosque on the Flight 93 crash site), Zhang Yimou’s trick at the Beijing Olympics was moral, beautiful, and hilarious.

In case you missed it, the Beijing closing ceremony was an extended dramatization of the sexual act, ending with the fertilization of an egg.

Here is a still image of the final tableaux. After the circle of a thousand yellow-clad egg-girls has finally been penetrated by the couple hundred bouncing sperm-boys, the sperms rush to the center to form the nucleus of the fertilized egg, while the egg girls spread out to form the albumen:

Just “Following Orders”

Do people study history any more? Or, perhaps I should ask, “Do people study historical FACTS any more?” I remember studying about the Nazis and the holocaust. I remember clearly those horrible pictures of the bodies piled high. And I remember studying how it came about. I remember learning about how Hitler got the support of his people — with words and charisma. And I remember how, after the war, people who participated in these death camps were punished. One thing that always stood out to me, which was reinforced when I was in the military, was that you cannot claim that you were “just following orders.” If something is wrong, it’s wrong, no matter who tells you to do it. And many Nazis were put to death after the war because they claimed they were “just following orders.”

Those words were echoed today by Paul Lalley, an attorney in Pennsylvania:

We don’t make that statute…We just make sure it’s carried out.

In other words, “We’re just following orders.”

Keep in mind, now, when that excuse was used by Nazi soldiers, it was bolstered with “Geez, if we didn’t follow orders, we would have been shot and killed on the spot.” That excuse didn’t work for them. Today’s excuse is, “Geez, if we don’t follow orders, we won’t get paid.”

So, what are the orders in this case that the lawyers and bureaucrats are going to carry out because they’re paid to carry them out? They’re going to use guns and men with guns to arrest people, throw them in jail, or shoot them. They’re going to seize children from their parents. They’re going to jail the parents (or kill them if they resist). They’re going to separate the children from their parents and place them in state custody. And what have the parents or children done? Are they abusing the children? Are they molesting them? No, they’re teaching them without asking the state’s permission.

Seriously.

The state has decided that the state will determine what children are taught, regardless of your personal opinions and regardless of your religion. If your religion teaches, for example, that homosexuality is wrong, you will NOT be allow to teach that to your children. And you will NOT be allowed to stop the state from teaching them that homosexuality is approved by the state. In the state of Pennsylvania, you will be fined, arrested, jailed, or killed if you do that. And the federal circuit court says that you do NOT have the right to have religious teachings, either.

Four years have been wasted in the courts as the state insists it, and only it, has the right to teach your children. You have no freedom, and clearly have no religious freedom in America. After all, they’re just “following orders.”

Soros and Marijuana

So have you heard about billionaire far-left socialist George Soros and his hundreds of thousands for marijuana? I find it rather odd that I agree with George Soros, who usually strongly opposes any sort of freedom for anyone at any time. This is the same Soros who supports Democrat candidates who want to crush freedom and expand government to the point where no one is free to do, well, anything. I guess Soros realizes that one way he can expand his communist agenda is to have the masses too drugged up to care about freedom.

At the same time, I find it rather annoying that we need to spend so much time and money on buying our freedom from government. There is no logical reason to have marijuana possession illegal. It’s simply a plant. There are hundreds of thousands of other items, from alcohol to prescription drugs, that are a LOT worse at impairing and affecting people than marijuana. So why is marijuana against the law in all forms and other things are not? Again, there is NO logical argument to support these laws.

So why is it? Follow the money. It’s a profit center for the government. They get to write tickets and impose fines. They get to clog up courtrooms and fill jails. This results in reports that claim there is a need for MORE: more employees, more prison guards, more courtrooms, and more supervisors. We should punish people who endanger other people — not those who sit around and smoke a joint. But then if we did that, we’d be a free country, and that’s just not going to happen, is it?

Pity for Bank Robbers?

So, do you pity the bank robber? Do you feel sorry for the bank robber not getting to see his children after he goes to jail? What about the rapist or the murderer? Do you feel bad knowing that the child rapist doesn’t get to see his own children because he’s in jail? Do you read lots of stories in the news about these criminals and interviews with their family about how scared the family is when the bank robber gets arrested?

I don’t. So I wonder why the press always gets SO upset when other types of criminals get arrested for breaking the law. Imagine reading about the raid on the bank robber’s home: “I was crying the whole time. I didn’t know what to do.” Wouldn’t that be sad, to read that the bank robbers were crying because they were caught breaking the law? You don’t often see news stories with interviews with the relatives of the bank robbers crying: “There was no communication, an immediate loss of any kind of news and a lack of understanding of what’s happening to their loved ones.”

Know what? They’re criminals. And they KNOW they’re criminals. It’s not like they’re minding their own business. They are stealing. They are openly and knowingly breaking the law. So know what? I don’t have a lot of pity on them. Actions have reactions. If you don’t want your family to be separated, here’s a tip: DON’T BREAK THE LAW unless you’re willing to have that happen to you.

Of course, I’m not claiming that everyone should blindly follow the law. I break the law often. But if I get caught, I’m willing to put up with the consequences and I’m not going to whine to the media — and you can bet the media isn’t going to have any pity on me — because I’m not a female or a minority.

Business Profitable? Not in Florida

The state of Florida has ruled that businesses are not allowed to be profitable in the state unless the state says so. Quite effectively, the state has decided exactly how much money your business shall be permitted by the state to make. Freedom? No, they will have none of that. Want to know why insurance is so expensive? Just ask the state — they are the ones setting the rules. Instead of letting free people come to free agreements, the state has decided THEY are the sole arbitrators of what shall or shall not be profitable.

Don’t complain when the insurance company leaves your state because they’re losing money — the state forced the company to NOT make money.

And yes, I realize Florida is not the only state where the government controls the means and production of businesses. But politicians have zero authority to talk about the high cost of anything when they are the reason the cost is high. Want to reduce insurance costs astronomically? Get government out of the damn way.

Cars: Millions of Years Old

Once again, more evidence that the members of alGore’s religion of man-made global warming are completely and totally full of crap:

First, you have the fear tactics that “support” the religion of fear: Polar bears on risky ocean swim. Of course, there’s likely nothing risky about it. They were just out for a swim. But of course, the global cooling warming man-made climate change lunatics are claiming it’s direct evidence that MAN and cars are causing climate change.

With just as much insane hysteria, glaciers with cracks are touted as clear evidence that man and his carbon-emitting cars are causing global climate change.

At exactly the same time, scientists are claiming quite the opposite — well, unless there were billions of man-made cars driving around 10,000 and 14 million years ago. This evidence points to plants and animals in Antarctica. Yes, scientists are now claiming that the frozen tundra of Antarctica, a land where water has been frozen for “hundreds of thousands” of years, was once a green, lush tropical land. Of course, that was 14 million years ago, so all those cars from 14 million years ago clearly brought on global cooling.

And more recently, the Sahara desert was a grassland. That was only 10,000 years ago, when we had much more advanced internal combustion engines that were causing the lush grasslands to turn into harsh, barren deserts.

If anyone actually cares to look and base all their views on science and obey what scientists tell them, perhaps they should look at ALL the scientists, and not just the ones that subscribe to their own version of religion history. Otherwise, like algore, you will look like a total fool.

Parent Whiners

It never ceases to amaze me the amount of whining and complaining that people do today. When other countries talk about the miserable, selfish bums that are Americans, Nicole and Leroy Scott from Connecticut are clear examples of that. Why? Because they want to use government FORCE to MAKE your kids play against their kid in baseball. Feel free to read that sentence again. I am not making this up. I’m not exaggerating. They honestly want government to send men with guns to MAKE your kids play baseball.

Now you can read all the other crap going on. You can read about the evil plot to replace the kid as a pitcher because the other team wants to win. You can read about the kid being asked to play for a tougher team. And feel free to get your feelings involved and think about the kids who don’t want to play baseball because the kid is “too tough” of a pitcher.

But it comes down to the end game with the lawyers — these parents want government to FORCE other kids to play baseball with them. That’s just utterly and completely insane. And the lawyer that’s even talking to these parents is just as bad, because he’s going to profit off of using government force to play a baseball game.

Maybe we need a serious, massive depression to make these people think about someone but themselves.

Edwards’ Forgiveness

So, have you heard about John Edwards running around asking people to forgive him? Apparently he’s calling, over and over again, people who worked for him and he’s asking them to forgive him. And from what I read, he’s getting a very hostile response.

That’s incredibly sad.

Do I forgive John Edwards? Well, he hasn’t called me (nor have I worked for him). If he calls me, would I? In a heartbeat. Seriously. I think that John Edwards finally gets it. Now I could be wrong — he could be doing all this just to try and place himself in a position to take power and run for election again. But that’s not for me to decide and determine. If John Edwards is serious about honestly asking for forgiveness, I think everyone should forgive him, without a doubt. I think this incident says more about John Edwards’ supporters than about him.

Welfare and the Poor

A short and to the point article that points out why welfare is bad. And make no mistake, welfare is bad. It’s evil. And no, it doesn’t matter how many you claim it will help. Instead, welfare actually enslaves two groups of people while benefiting no one but the government bureaucrat who takes a cut.

Here’s my honest view of what welfare does and how it works. This is not opinion, this is factual:

Step 1: Government uses men with guns to take cash from people who earn the cash. If you refuse, government will jail or kill you. All people who work and produce are therefore, by definition, slaves.

Step 2: Government takes a substantial portion of the money taken by force to pay the men with guns, pay the people who pay the men with guns, and pay the people who are making all the transfers of money.

Step 3: Government bureaucrats (the real evil) take a little bit of the money that’s left and they dangle it in front of lazy people who don’t work. They then make rules to ensure that the people who don’t work have incentive to continue to not work — they will be paid by the bureaucrats. They will not learn to support themselves, instead becoming dependent on the government — more slaves.

Oh, how I yearn for freedom.

Government at Work

So, what’s your government been up to? Keep in mind, this is the government who YOU PAY. You pay all the salaries of all levels of government. They’re working for you. According to various slogans, they’re working to “protect and serve.” According to the constitution, they’re only supposed to protect you from other who would violate your rights. So who are they protecting?

Well, they’re protecting some people’s free expression and speech — those who want to demand you approve their deviant sexual lifestyle. At the same time, this government is preventing you from quietly handing out pamphlets, speaking, or even wearing a T-shirt that they don’t like.

Your government is shutting down dangerous fruit stands that sell a couple watermelons to people who want them. Yes, if you want to engage in free trade, you are NOT WELCOME in America. If you want to trade one item of value for another, you must pay government for that privilege. And no, they don’t care about anything else. If you bribe them enough, you will be able to do what you want. If you don’t bribe them, government will destroy you.

Oh, and they’re arresting and locking up people who owe the government $30. Yes, that’s right. This government thinks it’s better to spend thousands of dollars on policemen, courts, bureaucrats, and all other related things in order to collect $30 from a “citizen.” Go ahead, try and explain it’s about following the rules. Can you actually argue that it makes sense to spend literally thousands of dollars because of “the rules?” Did you ever think the rules might be wrong?

Wouldn’t it be neat to live somewhere where there was actual freedom? I think it would. I think The Free State Project needs to move things along a little faster. Unfortunately, I think that’s only going to happen with a lot more resistance to force — which is going to cause the government to resort to more violence.

PETA Whackos and Sea World

I think anyone who claims membership in PETA is a lunatic. A stark-raving mad lunatic. I think they’re mentally unbalanced. I think they have serious issues with reality and live in a world of their own creation.

But I also believe they should be free to live in their delusional world, as long as they don’t try and force me to do things against my will. And in this case, I think a sane person has accidentally connected with the PETA loonies — but that’s fine.

The story is about a possible attempt by PETA to buy a Sea World park and “free” the animals therein. I absolutely love the idea. Not because I think the animals are “jailed,” but because the PETA whackos are doing this without taking from me. This is exactly how things should be done. This is what freedom is. If you want to “save” the animals in a business, you just go ahead and buy it, and you can free them — or you can eat them, I don’t care. Just stop trying to take my money and rights to complete your agenda.

I wish more groups would take this route. Hey Sierra Club (a group that used to be nice, but now is just another far, far left radical communist front group) — why don’t you try this method? If you want “open space,” why don’t you get you and all your pals together and BUY IT instead of using government to take land by force? Hey urban sprawl opponents, why don’t you try it? Go ahead, gather your yuppie pals and BUY the land you want to not develop — I sure won’t stop you.

Freedom is a wonderful thing. I just really, really wish there were a LOT more of it.
