Well, the breaking news is that the government in Texas did not have the right to kidnap seize private citizen’s children simply because the government didn’t like their religion. Well, that’s good.
But now what?
I don’t see any reports about the children being returned. I don’t read anything about reunions of families. And I don’t see anything about the unlawful actions of government being punished. I don’t see anything about a single government employee so much as losing $1 of their pension or their jobs. I don’t see anyone paying for the absolute destruction of those families. I don’t see anyone having to answer for vaccinating those children against their parents’ will.
So I guess we’ll just see if this is just a court that is saying something, but not actually doing anything about it. You see, if no one is punished (and I think some people should be jailed and heavily fined), then government agents are completely and totally free to kidnap anyone they want, even if it’s unlawful.

Mancow: “I’m gonna take a sledge-hammer to it” “You’ll go to jail for it?” “Absolutely”
Radio talk show host Mancow Muller is asking his listeners to help SHUT DOWN the crescent memorial to Flight 93. (Audio 27 seconds.)
Mancow describes how the giant crescent points to Mecca, and how the four terrorists are consistently placed in the symbolic Islamic heavens (the crescent and star parts of the design), while the 40 heroes are consistently depicted as symbolically damned (placed outside of the symbolic Islamic heavens). Good stuff (1 min, 21 sec).

I’ve often had discussions with people about who gets elected to various government positions. Usually these discussions turn to people asking me when I am going to run for election again. My response usually is that I just plain don’t want to. It’s not the getting elected part that bothers me, it’s the having a job where you tell other people how to live their lives. I want to be left alone and I think everyone else should be left alone. But that’s why people like me aren’t elected.
So who gets elected? The busybodies who honestly want to tell other people how to live their lives. People who want to “help” people — but who won’t use their own money or time to help. People who exist simply to tell other people what to do, while claiming the high moral ground, and claiming they’re crushing people “for the public good.” Most of these people will do quite literally anything “For the Public good.” Take, for example, the Canton City Council.
They want to put you in jail if you don’t mow your lawn when they decide that you should. Oh, and they’ve even gone so far as to define, in law, what consists of grass that is “too high.” I decided to head over to their city ordinances to see what I could find:
539.10 No person shall willfully injure … the grass in such parks.
Seriously. If you step on the grass in a Canton park, you’re a criminal.
They define “field daisies” as a “noxious weed.” Yes, that’s 551.01 (a). Oh, and if you dare to permit a noxious weed to grow on your lot, you’re a criminal. 551.02 (a) defines grass of exactly eight inches tall as illegal. And yes, if you don’t remove your noxious weeds, the city will remove them and bill you (551.03). However, the initial article complains that the city spends over $225,000 a year mowing other lawns!
Hey fools on the Canton City Council, here’s an idea: Why don’t you enforce your own foolish laws? Right now YOU are supposed to be billing those people so the city doesn’t pay $225,000 a year:
(c) All expenses of cutting and removing the noxious weeds and/or weeds and grasses of rank growth and/or collecting and removing litter together with administrative charges, inspection, record research, notification and billing incurred by the City, shall be recorded by the Service Director. The Director shall mail a statement thereof to the owner of such land at the property address or at the tax mailing address maintained by the Stark County Treasurer for real estate tax billing purposes. If after thirty days the amount remains unpaid, Council, by ordinance, shall certify the total amount of the expenses, the name of the owner of the land and a sufficient description of the premises, to the County Auditor to be entered upon the tax duplicate to be a lien upon such land from the date of entry, and to be collected as other taxes and assessments and returned to the General Fund of the City in accordance with the Ohio R.C. 731.54. (Ord. 142-89. Passed 7-3-89.)
551.03
In other words, if the city is spending money cutting lawns, the CITY COUNCIL is the one that’s irresponsible and not doing their jobs!
But I’m sure they are very busy working on laws making it illegal to hang your shirt up to dry in a park (539.12) and making sure (I’m not making this up) that it is clearly illegal to PLAY AND GAMES in the park (539.07) (seriously, it is against the law to play a game in the government park in Canton).
As you can see — people who run for these offices are simply people who have nothing better to do than run around and tell people how to live their lives. And I’m quite sure all the members of the Canton Council will claim that they’re doing it “For the Public Good.”

So you may have heard recently that the government of Sarasota has decided to discriminate. They have decided that based on the actions of a certain group of people that they refuse to hire those people. Oh, it’s not based on sex or gender, it’s based solely on actions of the individuals. And I really don’t have a problem with that. Of course, they already employ way too damn many people, but governments and individuals should be able to make decisions about who to hire based on the potential employee’s actions.
So tell me why I can’t refuse to hire someone who is gay?
The city of Sarasota claims that they won’t hire people who smoke because these people drive up medical costs. The city claimed that the person who smoked costs an additional $4,611 in medical bills each year. People who have AIDS, primarily because of their sexual actions, cost between $71,000 and $425,000 A YEAR in direct medical costs. And those who have HIV cost about $14,000 a year. Oh, and before you claim it’s not a gay disease, be sure and check the numbers. At least 56% (and increasing yearly) of those who have AIDS are gay and got the disease based on their actions. That’s a lot worse than smokers.
As long as governments cannot refuse to hire people because of their gay actions, government should not be allowed to refuse to hire people because of their actions in smoking. I believe I should be able to hire anyone I want, no matter what reason I give. And government shouldn’t be in the business of hiring people (for the most part), anyway. But if they’re going to do it, they should at least be fair about it. Yeah, that’s not going to happen, is it?

Let’s play a game, shall we? Let’s play “Spot the Communist Bureaucrat.”
Person 1: Gee, I really need some more money. It will go to good causes and help kids.
Person 2: Okay, that sounds good. I know where we can get our hands on loads of cash, no questions asked.
Person 1: Excellent. I need $369 million.
Person 2: You need what? I just gave you $341 million last year!
Person 1: Yeah, well, I spent that. And I need $369 million this year. Now.
Person 2: Tell you what, I just don’t have that kind of money. I’ll give you $351 million.
Person 1: RACIST! CHILD-HATER! This is going to mean MASSIVE cuts! How can you CUT the budget of the school system?!? You’re going to SHUT DOWN schools! Why do you insist on draconian CUTS in my budget!
Person 2: Your “salary” is over $250,000 a year. And with benefits, you make nearly half a million dollars.
Person 1: You are forcing me to CLOSE SCHOOLS with your budget cuts! You don’t care about the children!
Person 2: The number of your employees earning over $100,000 increased by TWENTY-NINE percent this year.
Person 1: Your devastating CUTS in the budget is going to mean that children SUFFER. Your reduction in the budget is going to have a negative impact on the children!
Person 2: Your budget actually increased. It went up ten MILLION dollars.
Person 1: THE SKY IS FALLING!
Person 2: And last year we gave you a $25 million increase.
Person 1: That’s fine. CUT the budget. But the CHILDREN WILL SUFFER. I will ensure they do.
Of course, Person 1 is Peter Gorman, super-bureaucrat. Yes, his annual compensation is nearly $500,000. And yes, he 91 bureaucrats that work for him earning over $100,000 a year. And yes, he is honestly claiming that an increase of $10 million is actually a “cut.” Of course, only slimy, self-serving, selfish bureaucrats can actually make that claim with a straight face. Then again, he makes his living off the backs of working people, so I’m sure he sleeps fine at night while lying to people during the day.
