Ogre’s Politics and Views

Ah, it’s been a crazy fall for me. Lots of things going on. And due to that, at least in part, I’ve missed a few weekends of the Carolina Renaissance Festival. Oh, I’ve been there when I can, I just haven’t been there nearly every weekend, like normal.

So this weekend is the very last weekend of the festival for the year. From what I’ve seen, it’s been another very successful year. Now I really was hoping to take lots of pictures this last weekend, but the weatherman is calling for heavy rain and thunderstorms all night tonight and into tomorrow. Then it’s supposed to be heavy rain until about 3pm, then light rain the rest of the day. Yuck. Oh, and it’s supposed to be in the upper 50s and lower 60s. That’s a rough way to end the season. At least it’s supposed to be clear on Sunday… and in the 30s!

I guess I’ll go, wearing a heavy raincoat. Still, that’s going to be chilly once I get good and wet. But it’s the last weekend, so why not, right? Maybe I’ll get some interested rainy pictures. Feel free to join me, if you dare!

Forget the selfish, miserable bastards who voted for the bailout. I’m going to the Carolina Renaissance Festival all weekend to try and forget about the total socialization of all America.

And yes, I’m aware that’s what those in power want me to do.

In addition, the standing invitation is open again — anyone who wants to come on out and meet Ogre there, just let me know (although this year I’ll be missing a few weekend at the fair for the first time in recent history )

In the past, I’ve been encouraging everyone in range to come on out to the Carolina Renaissance Festival. Well apparently you listened. So a note for this weekend, the last weekend of the festival: Stay Home!

Nah, I’m kidding. But last weekend the weather was good and the place was packed. I mean really packed. I’ve been going there for about 5 years, and last Saturday was the most crowded I have ever seen that place. All the merchants I talked to were really happy because they were having their best days. However, because of the massive crowds, I really didn’t get very many pictures. Most of them would have been the backs of people’s heads.

So, this weekend is the very last weekend of the fair for this year. I’m going to try and get out there early this weekend, perhaps missing most of the biggest crowds. Then again, it’s supposed to be a bit chilly (highs in the 50s?), so maybe it won’t be so crowded that you can’t breathe. I might be wearing the pirate costume again, so look for me if you’re around. Last weekend I was in the pirate costume contest — but didn’t win because I think there were some professional pirates there!
