I’d love to have a country. I’d like to live in a country. Unfortunately, that’s not what government wants (especially Juan McCain and Obamama). This week’s Blog For Borders describes who are the violent ones. Take a peek.

So, for those of you good and loyal readers who have been paying attention, you know that Ogre’s vacation has ended. However, I’m writing this now, before he leaves on vacation, just in case. You see, as of this writing, the plans include a 12-hour drive home yesterday, Sunday. And yes, he still has to show up for work at 7am today. So there’s a chance that he won’t have time to update this between driving all day and Monday morning. If he has time, this message will disappear. If you are reading this, however, he didn’t quite get to it yet. Don’t worry, later on today there should be some great commentary on things he saw the last two weeks and other news!
And thank you again for stopping along.

Oh, did I forget to mention last week that this wonderful vacation from the world is lasting two weeks? I wonder if the world still exists after last week. Knowing this isn’t posting for quite some time from the time I’m writing it, I wonder if gas prices have continue to rise and wheat and corn prices as well. Ah well, just be prepared, I always say.
So this week I’ll be relaxing with the family in an undisclosed location. There will be much doing of nothing and lots of reading of all sorts of relaxing books. But yes, once again this week, there will be wonderful and thoughtful (and accurate) commentary here. Be sure to stop by every day to read the latest here. And comment away, I will read them all upon my return! And this week I’ll have electricity so I might stop by and visit algore’s Internet. If not, I’ll be sure and be back next Monday, ready to battle government for freedom again.

Welcome to vacation week here at Ogre’s Politics and Views! No, really. Ogre’s on vacation this week. Yay, vacation! Everyone needs to step back now and then and relax. Ignoring the daily news is indeed a very good and relaxing thing. So this week Ogre will be out doing some camping. And whitewater rafting, and bicycle riding and maybe some horseback riding. I think he’ll also stop by the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY. That should be very exciting. In the meantime, one place he won’t be is here. It is doubtful that he will have access to electricity, much less algore’s Internet. But never fear, good and loyal reader, there will be content this week!
Instead of live reports and commentary on the news and government, stay tuned this week for quotes and passages from various different sources — all helping to point out where government has gone, and why it shouldn’t be there.
As always, thank you very much, loyal readers, for continuing to stop by. Feel free to leave comments, I will read and reply to every one when I return. I realize I have been bad about reading and commenting on other blogs — I am sorry. I’m trying to work things out to find more time for that — but upon my return from vacation I’ll be working about 12-1/2 hour days from Monday to Friday. I’m not complaining, because it’s good to have work — but it doesn’t give me much time to goof off and read the excellent commentary from you other folks!
So stop on by later on, I’ll be sure to have at least one, maybe two posts a day showing up on a regular schedule this week!

So, you want to make a TV commercial but can’t afford the ad buy? Perhaps saysme TV is for you. Here’s some information about them from them:
We’re a startup that allows any individual to advertise on TV. SaysMe’s mission is to democratize television and let individuals decide the ads people see on TV by selecting pre-produced ads from our library or create your own 25 second ad about any issue! After reading through your site I think you will find out story interesting. We give American political donors a compelling, completely legal way to directly impact the coming primary elections - with their own voice. Here’s my favorite part: No crazy 527’s. No limits on donors. Ads as low as $25! Free speech is back.
You can see some of our recent press from our launch on CBS Television below:

If you (or anyone you know) might be ready, willing, and able make hard hitting TV spots, I know we’d like to hear from you (we’re paying royalties too in the event others select to run the ads you create).

I just upgraded to Wordpress version 2.5.1. Did you notice? I didn’t think so. I just wanted to mention to those who have the Wordpress blogs that there’s a plug in called automatic upgrade. And it does just what it sounds like it does. I upgraded from 2.5.0 to 2.5.1 by just clicking “next” a few times. If you’ve got Wordpress and want easy upgrades, just add this plug-in!

Congressman Ramstad comes out in opposition to the Flight 93 memorial
Congressman Jim Ramstad (R-MN) gave a House speech this month, supporting Mr. Burnett’s opposition to the crescent design. The speech is entered in the Congressional Record here, along with supporting statements from Tom Burnett Sr. (father of murdered Flight 93 hero Tom Burnett Jr.).
That makes two Congressmen now who have come out publicly against the crescent memorial. (Tom Tancredo took the lead last November, asking the Park Service to choose a completely new design.)

Sorry to those of you looking for wonderful, insightful posts about freedom today. I’ve been crazy busy beating my head against a wall trying to get Linux working in all my free time. I think I’m making progress, but I’m not really sure.
I’ll have good stuff coming soon — including my official endorsements for all the statewide NC races and other races in and around Iredell and Mecklenburg county. If you have a local race you want me to take a look at, be sure and mention it, and I’ll see if I can find someone worth endorsing!

Everyone who’s ever had a blog likes to get comments. I mean, if you didn’t get comments, well, things would be a bit boring, right? We, a couple days ago, I posted about the TX Polygamy raids. Gwen had a rather long, detailed comment and I wanted to respond. But my response was going to be rather long, so I decided to put it here in a main post. All quoted sections in this post are the commenter’s words:
In regards to the use of the APC and being well prepared with men and ammunition, there is a fairly easy response. After what happened at Waco, authorities wanted to be prepared for all eventualities. This is a walled compound and they had no idea of the reception they would receive and so they were prepared for all eventualities. Authorities have the right to protect themselves too.
Gwen? Do you have ANY clue what actually happened at Waco? That’s when the government went in an murdered dozens of people who never fired a shot. It’s quite easy to “avoid” another Waco — don’t send armed government agents to attack people on private property. In addition, these people CLEARLY knew what they were getting into. The police knew what sort of “resistance” was going to be faced — the same they ALWAYS face with LDS — none. It was wrong and overkill.
These people were not ‘invaded’.
Yes they were. If you don’t accept that concept, you don’t accept the concept of private property and you cannot accept any concepts related to freedom. There was zero evidence of any breaking of laws except one phone call that was FAKE.
all they did was protect children.
Utterly insane. Using that definition, the police need to take ALL children from ALL parents because someone MIGHT do something wrong. And what about the children who are getting pregnant OUTSIDE the compound? Why aren’t they removed from their parents? If the “protection” here was against underage children getting pregnant, I think the TX police have A LOT more people that need to be “protected” — again, including everyone who goes to Planned Parenthood.
These people are being ’singled out’ as you put it, because this isn’t a girl going out and doing something stupid. This is girls being brainwashed and forced to break the law and essentially being sexually abused by men who are decades older then them. And the boys are being taught that this is okay.
“Brainwashed?” Have you been to a government school lately? With the definition of “brainwashed,” we cannot teach any child anything about, well, anything. And then every single religion in the world, including Islam and Global Warming, is “brainwashing” people and they all should be stopped. It is NOT the business of government to determine right and wrong — government is wholly incapable of doing that and they should not be doing that. What is it about the magic age of 18 that makes a girl perfectly okay to make all decisions for themselves? Can you tell me who is harmed when a 16-year old gets pregnant and then raises the child in a caring, loving home with a father?
This is not a healthy environment for kids. Try reading “Escape” by Carolyn Jessop, someone who left the FLDS community and describes exactly what goes on there.
I’m not defending the LDS. I have some friends who are LDS (sounds like I’m calling them ADD), and I know a bit about that church. In general, I think their religious beliefs are nuttier than a fruitcake. But I believe in freedom most of all. I believe people should be free to have their religion. And in a religion that’s not harming outsiders, I cannot see any right for the government to go in and stop them. It’s completely and totally wrong. What are you going to do when government decides that YOUR environment isn’t healthy for kids simply because they say so? These people were living in peace and not harming anyone. They absolutely, completely, should have been left alone. What the government is doing is causing A LOT more harm to these children than the LDS ever could have. Government has far overstepped it’s bounds, and it IS destroying people simply because of their religious beliefs, and that’s just wrong.
It also does not matter that the initial phone call was false.
That’s the worst, scariest part of the entire comment. Do you even realize what you’re saying there? You’re clearly saying that the fourth amendment to the US Constitution doesn’t exist. You’re saying that government can, at any time, and for literally any reason, invade anyone’s property and do what they want. If government wants to investigate someone and search their underwear drawer, they can, even if there’s no evidence. No, what government in a free society would need is concrete evidence and eyewitnesses who will stand up in court and face their accusers. Anonymous tips are absolutely horrible. If someone will not stand up in court and say that they saw something — and will face punishment if they lie — there should be NO government involvement at all.
Don’t let your apparent dislike for the LDS color your opinion. Again, if this were a free society, people would not be attacked, invaded, and arrested for their religion. Families would not be destroyed and hundreds of lives crushed by government because of religion. But that’s in a free country, not what we have in America today.

So, no, this isn’t a post about me going back in a Time Machine and live blogging a historical event — as neat as that would actually be. If I could, I think right now I’d head back and blog the Constitutional Convention and things that the founders intended for this once-great country. But anyone, onto the purpose of this post.
I happened to be commenting on another blog that uses Blogger. I noticed that it picked up my gmail login and connected that to my “profile.” I followed that profile, which led me to my first blog site on blogger. It’s still there. Heh. I haven’t used that site for blogging in two and a half years.
Wow. That got me to thinking how long I’ve been doing this. I started posting there in July of 2004. Holy cow. Have I really been “blogging” for that long? I need to get a life. I actually got started after reading Vox Day for awhile. Later on I discovered Bad Example and their whole family. Harvey managed to get me an invite to mu.nu during a time that Blogger was very unstable. Then I started blogging at my own my.nu site. I was actually there from about June 2005 until November 2007. Now I’m over here and still going strong.
I sure write a lot, don’t I?
Well, anyway, in case you were interested, that’s a little about the history of this blog. And if you weren’t interested, you shouldn’t have read this far. Sorry for have wasted that few minutes of your life! ![]()

Sorry to my regular readers who stop by looking for the latest excellent freedom-based commentary on the news. I’ve been rather sick the last couple days, and am mostly working on staying upright. I’ll be fine, it’s just a particularly nasty cold that’s been taking over my head area that’s been keeping me from posting.
On a related note, I wonder if people were strongly or wimpier years ago. I mean, think about the pioneers — did they get colds? Were they stronger people — when they got a cold, they just ignored it and it didn’t even slow them down? Or were they weaker people — when they got a cold, they just died and someone else took their place?

Hey, anyone out there upgrade to Version 2.3.3? My control panel has been showing the “Please update now” message for awhile, so I figured I’d try and update. So, I followed the instructions, backed-up files, uploaded new ones, and then headed for the dreaded “upgrade page.” The upgrade page says, “Your Wordpress is up to date.” So, I head back to the control panel: “Please update now.”
I hate when crap doesn’t do what the authors of said crap claim it will do.
Guess unless someone shows up here and tells me what to do other than what the instructions tell me, I’ll just ignore the “please update now” line. I wonder if there’s a way to make that go away in the control panel.

Yesterday I posted a neat video of a song that’s been stuck in my head for a couple days now. Since I’m singing it to myself all day, I figured I could share the lyrics with you:
When I’m alone
I sometimes get to thinkin’
How it’s gonna be
When we’re gone
Are we moving closer together
Or is it gonna take forever and ever?CHORUS
Let it go, Let it go, Let it flow like a river
Let it go, Let it go, Let it flow through you
Let it go, Let it go, Let it flow like a river
Let it go, Let it go, Let it flow through youSearching everywhere
Just to find a reason
A misunderstanding in doubt
Don’t want to preach it
Push it up, teach it
Just take a good look all around(chorus)
Was it gonna follow
That angels wanna follow youTo help you on your way
Time spent together
Like now, is forever
So don’t ever let this smile slip away(chorus x2)
What a neat tune. Sing along with me, will you? ![]()
