Time For Change

It’s time for a change. Support ANYONE other than your local Republican or Democrat. Vote Libertarian. Vote Green. Vote for yourself. Vote for anyone else. Mickey Mouse would do a better job than your current government.

Les Merritt NC State Auditor

Pretty neat way to support your candidate. I like Les Merritt — and not just because Democrats hate him.

Ron Paul endorses Chuck Baldwin

Wow. I’m quite surprised. Ron Paul has endorsed the Constitution Party candidate Chuck Baldwin. I’ve been on board with Baldwin’s campaign for quite some time now — and I really like the Constitution Party. The only bad news, for those living in North Carolina, is that the Republicans and Democrats that control North Carolina simply will not allow you to vote for Chuck Baldwin. If 90% of voters wrote in Chuck Baldwin’s name on the NC presidential ballot, every one of those votes would be thrown out. Isn’t that just great? North Carolina is a banana republic, controlled by Democrats for over 100 years. I wish we had a republic in North Carolina. It would be nice to be free.

The only chance, however, to increase ballot access this time is to vote for the Libertarian candidates in North Carolina. That is the ONLY party in North Carolina that has committed to opening up ballot access and allowing people to vote for anyone they want. If you support freedom and want to see a tiny bit of election freedom returned to you in North Carolina, you have to vote for the Libertarians. No, I don’t care what part of their platform you disagree with — if you want to vote for Constitution candidates, or even Green candidates in the future, please support you local Libertarian candidate — and Mike Munger for governor!

Dr. Dobson and Endorsements

So, word is that Dr. Dobson “might” endorse John McCain for president. Nice. Dr. Dobson, perhaps your own behavior may help explain why so many people don’t trust Christians today. Behavior like this is what causes people to say, “What’s so good about Christians?” Meanwhile, many people will follow Dr. Dobson — and his lies. I’m sorry, I like Dr. Dobson, but he’s just plain lying when he says:

Barack Obama contradicts and threatens everything I believe about the institution of the family and what is best for the nation. His radical positions on life, marriage and national security force me to reevaluate the candidacy of our only other choice, John McCain.

Dr. Dobson — there ARE more than two choices. And this is exactly the time when an influential leader such as yourself could propel this country into a much better place. This is the time when another candidate, one who matches your values, has the best chance of winning — especially if you would consider the endorsement of a good candidate. If Dr. Dobson endorses McCain, that will be a long-lasting statement saying, “Well, Christians want good things, but we’re perfectly willing to compromise if it means we get to say ‘We Win.’ If we vote for evil people, well that’s just fine because we don’t really have any principles that we won’t compromise on.” Nice job, Dr. Dobson.

Let’s look at the words of Dr. Dobson from just a few months ago:

I’m deeply disappointed the Republican Party seems poised to select a nominee who did not support a Constitutional amendment to protect the institution of marriage, who voted for embryonic stem cell research to kill nascent human beings, who opposed tax cuts that ended the marriage penalty, and who has little regard for freedom of speech, who organized the Gang of 14 to preserve filibusters, and has a legendary temper and often uses foul and obscene language.

I cannot, and I will not vote for Sen. John McCain, as a matter of conscience.

Should John McCain capture the nomination as many assume, I believe this general election will offer the worst choices for president in my lifetime. I certainly can’t vote for Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama based on their virulently anti-family policy positions. If these are the nominees in November, I simply will not cast a ballot for president for the first time in my life.

And he dares to call any politician a “flip-flopper.” Dr. Dobson? Pot meet kettle.

A quick side note — Dr. Dobson had as a guest on his show who is a Southern Baptist. I wonder, as does Laurence M. Vass, What Happened to Southern Baptists — especially as far as peaceful resolutions to conflict?

But Dr. Dobson claims that there’s no other choice. Perhaps I should send along to Dr. Dobson a few links: Bob Barr is running for president. Why won’t Dr. Dobson support him? His views on liberty and freedom are close to Dr. Dobson’s than McCain’s. Do you suppose Dr. Dobson knows that Chuck Baldwin is running as well? While he’s not on the ticket in a lot of states because of the two evils, you can be sure that Mr. Baldwin is a MUCH better match for Dr. Dobson than anyone else.

So why is Dr. Dobson continuing to imply support for McCain? I suspect it’s because Dr. Dobson is more interested in power and influence than in principles. I would guess that Dr. Dobson doesn’t want to be known for picking someone who didn’t win the election. If Dr. Dobson will accept all that he says is bad about McCain so he can be on the “winning team,” I wonder if he won’t switch over and endorse Obama if it looks like Obama will win. Are there any principles that Dr. Dobson actually holds that aren’t subject to the political winds? It sure doesn’t seem like it.

Vote Libertarian in North Carolina in 2008

Why? Remember that 9% approval rating? It’s not throwing away your vote, especially in North Carolina. If 90% of the people don’t like the current government and just half of them vote Libertarian, freedom will have a chance. Want to know why? Just watch this video:

That’s Mike Munger. He’s running for North Carolina governor. I’m voting for him.

Ogre’s Endorsements

Time for my official endorsements for the upcoming Republican primary election. Yes, I still vote Republican because deep in my heart I believe there might be a chance that someone else who wants freedom will run under that banner — and because here in NC, it’s illegal to run as anything other than a Republican or Democrat currently.

President: Ron Paul. Come on, you had to see that one coming. No, I haven’t joined the sooper-secret “Operation Chaos.” But if you want to, go ahead. I’m still sticking with Ron Paul. There’s no question that he’s better for freedom and this country than Juan McCain.

US Senate: Pete Di Lauro. I know, “WHO?” He’s called a fringe candidate. But know what? His opponent likes HUGE, enormous, bloated government. His opponent is insanely rich and has no clue what actual working people do. Pete isn’t any of that. And he wants to shrink government. That’s good in my book.

US Congress District 9: Sue Myrick. She really gets it. She understands the illegal alien invasion. She understands lowers taxes. I wish there were more like here to vote for.

US Congress District 10: I had a real hard time with this one. The current office holder appears to have no problems with breaking the law to get elected. He supports, well, whatever will get him more votes. However, his opponent is a lawyer. And I serious think that being a lawyer should completely disqualify you from being elected to any office higher than dog catcher. However, I’m willing to give anyone a chance. Therefore, I’m going with Lance Sigmon.

Governor: Again, another tough one. Most of the candidates are quite similar, with McCrory being the odd man out. McCrory is a moderate, through and through, on most issues (like taxes). So while he’s not perfect (he’s a damn bottom-feeder lawyer, too), but again, I’m willing to give him a chance to follow up with his conservative claims: I’m going with Fred Smith on this one.

Lt. Governor: I’m very torn here between Robert Pittenger and Jim Snyder. They both have great ideas and would do a wonderful job. However, with the support of Vernon Robinson, I’m going with Jim Snyder on this one (why do they have to be damn lawyers?).

Superintendent for Public Instruction: Richard Morgan is a Democrat closely involved with felon Jim Black. Joe Johnson is severely anti-gun. So the easy choice here is Eric Smith.

NC Senate District 39: No question here, Bob Rucho. He knows politics, and he’s pro-freedom (most of the time). His opponent is a liberal Democrat running on the Republican ticket.

NC House District 95: Another tough one. The incumbent, Karen Ray, is a serious elitist. She always appears annoyed that she has to submit herself to another election. You see, SHE knows better and you should just let her direct your life. At least, that’s the impression I get of her. On the other hand, her opponent, Grey Mills campaign is about taking money from other people and giving to to Iredell County. And he’s a damn lawyer, too. I think I’m going to vote Mills on this one, just to give him a chance.

And other races you want to talk about or know about?

McHenry Sets the Record Straight

I got an email yesterday with the “title, Help Me Set the Record Straight” from Congressman Patrick McHenry. This is in response to the recent ad from Lance Sigmon, his primary opponent. In the ad, Lance Sigmon suggests that it’s possible that McHenry broke various laws. So, McHenry wants to “Set the Record Straight.”

So, does McHenry deny breaking the law? Does McHenry even suggest he didn’t break the law? Incredibly, no. Instead, he has a video that says he’s above such discussions. He says he’d rather talk about taking money from working people to give to people who vote for him. It’s just beneath him to discuss criminal activity that he may or may not have participated in.

Having been in politics and seeing campaigns from the inside, I understand trying to stay “above the fray.” But if someone has been accused of criminal activity, to completely ignore that and not even make a feeble attempt to deny it, really does say a lot. Am I saying that McHenry broke the law? Well, I’m pretty sure he did, but in other cases, other than where Lance Sigmon points out. Did he break the laws Sigmon suggests he did? I have no idea — but McHenry has never once even mildly suggested that he did not.

Now I’m no fan of lawyers. In fact, I think that being a member of any bar association, or even having a law degree should automatically disqualify someone from holding any elected office. However, I’m willing to give Sigmon a chance. I know McHenry fails the Davy Crockett test. I don’t know if Lance Sigmon will — if he does, I’ll support his next opponent. In the meantime, I’m voting Lance Sigmon in the 10th Congressional District.

Jim Snyder for Lt. Governor

You know who he is. Many of you have heard him speak. Many of you have read his conservative writings. Of all of the candidates who have run for political office in the last several years, one stands head and shoulders above the rest and is the “right” candidate, Mr. Conservative…Jim Snyder.

Why is he the conservative candidate?

First and foremost, he is for the babies, the unborn, those small defenseless human beings who are aborted so often that thousands of Americans must go abroad to adopt because, as a nation, we have killed 50 million babies since 1973.

Jim stands for life and the protection of the unborn. He is not hesitant to say it, and he never will be. Many officials have used pro-life voters to get elected and then discard both the cause and its leaders. Once elected, Jim Snyder will continue to make the protection of innocent life his top priority

Jim is for American sovereignty. When he ran for U.S. Senate he said, “The freedoms of the people of our nation are dependent on the sovereignty of the United States of America. We must be a nation prepared to go our own way when we know we are right.”

Corrupt labor bosses here have goaded their buddies in Mexico to sue North Carolina for unfair trade practices because we do not allow the dangerous practice of public employee collective bargaining. As Lieutenant Governor, Jim Snyder will fight these people on both sides of the border rather than playing footsie with them in Charlotte at some Council of Foreign Relations function.

Jim is the candidate who believes we must protect our borders. Six years ago in the campaign and then in his book, The Conservative Mind, he called for building the fence that would reestablish control of our borders and preserve our economy. He does not kowtow to Charlotte business interests who want cheap drywall installation or new bank accounts from illegal aliens.

As Lieutenant Governor, he will help stop the foreign gang problem and reduce the 12 Americans killed each day by illegals by supporting tough employer sanctions and 287g local enforcement efforts by police chiefs and sheriffs to detain and deport criminal illegal aliens.

Jim Snyder is the conservative candidate who always has pleaded with the citizens of North Carolina and of the nation to honor our Constitution and our Bill of Rights. In his book, he wrote , “We must embrace federalism in its constitutional and republican form, which has embellished the nascent dreams of our forefathers, who proclaimed in every hamlet and commonwealth that it is we the people in whom all power is relegated.”

This May 6, use your power to vote conservative. Vote Jim Snyder for Lieutenant Governor.

If you believe in those things in which Jim Snyder believes, please visit www.joinjim08.com and email this message to your email list of friends and associates.

Now Jim is running for Lieutenant Governor. He is the only candidate who has the vision, mind, ability to speak and persuade, the passion, and the courage to stand as President of the North Carolina Senate and do what is right.

We must elect our conservative friend and leader as the next Lieutenant Governor of North Carolina.

In 2004, he won the GOP primary without a runoff. Let’s make sure that this happens again!

And remember, this is a fellow that Vernon Robinson is supporting. That’s good enough for me. Ogre officially endorses Jim Snyder (for what that’s worth, eh?).
