Blagojevich’s Honesty

Well, at least he’s telling the truth. I wish more of the disgusting, selfish, self-serving bums who call themselves politicians would be more honest. In this case, the governor is admitting that he wants speed cameras on all highways in the state — and he’s not claiming they’re going to save lives (they won’t). He’s not claiming they will reduce speeding (they won’t), nor is he claiming it’s for safety (it’s not). He’s not even claiming that they’re to “punish wrongdoers” (they aren’t).

He’s completely open and honest about it: he only wants speed cameras so he can have more money to spend. And honestly, that’s the only actual, real, measurable effect of having such devices. Of course, they’re also dishonest because they remove three provisions of current law. With such devices, you lose the right to face your accuser, and you lose due process, and you lose the concept of innocent until proven guilty. They’re horrible mechanizations of the state, designed to put you in fear and take your cash — that’s all, nothing more.

But at least the governor is being honest about his purposes. Since he’s in IL, I’m sure that will have no effect on his re-election changes, either.

  1. If he wants money to spend, how bout he saves $5,000/day by NOT FLYING from Chicago to Springfield EVERY FREAKING DAY and ACTUALLY USE THE GOVERNOR’S MANSION.

And I don’t think he needs to worry about re-election right now. Since he has already been asked to step down as governor and HIS OWN PARTY is drafting Impeachment and Recall resolutions against him.

  2. You thought he should use HIS money? Come now, you don’t understand — Democrats ONLY use YOUR money to do, well, anything they do! I imagine this latest effort is to attempt to stave off those attacks on his person. You see, if he can bring in the money at this rate, I bet every person in his party will overlook any of his shortcomings — money trumps morals every time in politics.
