CMS: Politics over Education

If you have any doubt about the priorities of the government education system, just watch the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) in action. They, and I’m sure most government schools around the county, have one priority: cash.

Yesterday the superintendent (who earns nearly half a million dollars a year in salary and other compensation) announced job cuts. And of course, he blamed it on not having enough money. Why? Because it’s a political move, plain and simple, designed to get voters to support giving even MORE cash to the schools. The facts are clear (even if you won’t get them from his allies in the media): the school district has MORE money than last year to spend. They have enough to give every employee a raise of at least three percent. But that’s not how much Peter Gorman (the $500,000+ superintendent) personally wanted, so he’s going to fire people until the government gives him, personally, more cash.

Extort: To obtain from another by coercion or intimidation.

This is the function and purpose of the government school system. They seriously and honestly do not care one bit about the children or education in any way, shape, or form. I wish there were some way to make people understand that. I guess most people don’t want to hear that because their kids are in the government prison school system, so they don’t want to admit that the school stinks as bad as it does.

  1. Ogre — the primary purpose of America’s Public Education, is to keep the otherwise unemployable, employed. Not pointing a finger at teachers here, but at all the worthless bureaucrats that make their living off the taxpayers of America. Then you have the edu-Nazis that believe the busing children all over the place is really good them, but ask for proof, and your told your a racist.

Also, nanananna, Wake County Super of Schools makes more more money than you Super of Schools. Only in government are people rewarded for failures.

  2. No question about it. I know teachers who read this will be annoyed, but it is a verifiable fact that when you look at a college, you will find the students with the lowest average GPAs in the college of education.

But when I try to explain to people that the public schools aren’t in the business of educating, people just look at me like I’m from another planet. Welcome to the matrix…

  3. Ogre — look at this way, the public education plan on by FDR/Truman/Kennedy has worked. We are now in are 2nd generation of political lemmings (I prefer morons) who only vote for they are told to vote for, thus, for the most part the “status quo” of ignorance has survived almost 50 years.

Add to the fact that “beta” males now dominate America and it only makes it worse. We can only dream of going back to real America, you know, the one without the burdon of government.

Nothing would make me happier than to see America fall apart like in the movie “The Postman.” Maybe we can get it right a 2nd time.

  4. Unfortunately, the government education system is so ingrained, I don’t see any other way to fix it. It cannot be repaired, it needs to be completely destroyed so we can start over again. I just cannot see any one for that to happen short total economic collapse (or violent revolution).
