Unlimited Police Power

So, someone please tell me — is there anything at all that police are not allowed to do? They are apparently allowed to crash their cars and not pay for the destruction. And no, the government, their employer, won’t pay, either. And they’re allowed to break into private property because “it’s an emergency.”

Those unchecked rampaging power-mongers in Iowa are lucky to be alive, if you ask me. If I was in my house, cleaning up after a major flood, knowing there were few residents around; and someone shoved a crowbar in my door and started ripping it open, I’d have a loaded shotgun aimed at them. As soon as they entered my house, I’d pull the trigger in self-defense. And if you think that’s nuts, you should watch the video — these police aren’t asking if someone is home — they are forcibly breaking into houses, through doors and windows, without announcing themselves AT ALL. I am honestly surprised none have been killed — and the homeowners would be absolutely within their rights to defend themselves and their home. The Constitution used to be a check on these gross violations, but it’s clear that document simply does not apply.

Go ahead, tell me that they’re just “doing their job.” Tell me that they’re just “following orders.” Tell me that they’re doing it to “help” people.

Look, they’re committing gross Constitutional violations and many people are defending them. I wonder how many people would have defended Mr. Geiser. After all, Mr. Geiser was just following orders, too. Mr. Geiser was just doing what he was told, and it was for the betterment of society. And now we’re deporting Mr. Geiser for crimes he committed over 50 years ago. Isn’t it interesting that we will punish one set of policemen for criminal actions, but we won’t punish others? And yes, I think those people filmed in that link above should be in jail. It’s not “helpful” to me for you to break my door down and search my house because you want to.

Oh hey, let’s turn to the courts to settle the matter. Oh, right. The courts already have usurped power themselves. Can you name any limit on any branch of government that actually exists today? Go ahead, argue with that policeman about your rights — and you’ll be doing it from a jail cell.

  1. Somebody needs to fire a Cafe Press Account and crank out signs we can put on our homes with something like this:

    WARNING!!!
    Homeowner is armed
    and will likely shoot anyone
    foolish enough to enter
    without first politely knocking
    and asking permission to enter
    If it is refused…LEAVE
    THIS MEANS YOU!!!

Feel free to steal and improve upon the idea.

  2. Oh speaking of abuse of police power………..

    http://www.newsobserver.com/news/story/1113315.html

Looks like another demokrat will be taking that long walk into prison. How many does that make since Uncle Jimbo got locked up?

  3. Thunder Pig, at one time in this very country, that sign wasn’t needed — because it was true, no matter who didn’t like it. At one time in America, when there was freedom, you could actually own property and protect it. Sadly, neither is permitted today.

And Wuptdo, I notice in that article there’s NO mention of his political party. That’s a sure sign it’s a Democrat. If he were Republican, I’m sure that would have made the headline.

  4. Silly Ogre, rights are for foreigners.

Show me a government agency that isn’t full of itself and abusive of it’s powers, and I’ll show you a fake government agency.

I sure do miss the fourth amendment.

  5. You can still view the fourth amendment — it’s on display in a museum in Washington. That’s likely the only place you’ll see about it, because it sure doesn’t exist here today.

  6. Aren’t you talking about a disaster area where no one is supposed to enter until it is determined safe and officials clear you to go home. Seems someone may be telling a fairy tale and suckered you guys in.

  7. By the way, you call 911 and report a fire and it’s no longer your house, it’s mine until I clear it for you to go back in. Try entry and spend the night in jail. That’s just the way it is.

  8. Oh, I understand it, Scrapiron. I understand it too clearly. You can own property and have rights when and where government says you can — and not one second longer. Oh, and any time any government official doesn’t want you to have rights, you don’t have them. That’s the way we ensure people think they’re free — because you can have all the freedom you want until government decides you don’t.

  9. PLEASE don’t get me started on eminent domain and involuntary annexation….. the culmination of a government that’s “here to help”…. that is to say, to help itself to private property.

  10. Private property is a complete and total illusion. Seriously. There is honestly nothing you can own that government will not take from you on a whim. The entire concept and thought of private property DOES NOT EXIST, no matter what that pesky Constitution says. I wish it did, but that doesn’t make it so. This is just one more example that shows that you can have your private property rights all the way up until government decides they want them.
