Rep Poe Gets It

We need more people like this in government:

I especially like that he points out that there’s no Constitutional authority for Congress to do this. Unfortunately, there is NO way to stop them. How do you challenge this law? Go sell a light bulb that’s illegal? Yeah, good luck with that — if you’re not a millionaire with expensive lawyers, you’re in jail, NOT challenging the clearly unconstitutional law.

But while I was watching this video, I was hoping and praying he was going to smash the bulb on the ground to make his point. That would have been priceless.

  1. Funny I was waiting for that too.

  2. I was really, really hoping he’d do it “accidentally.”

  3. Outstanding speech. But dropping the bulb would have created a national news story. One that would have been worth watching.

  4. I could just see him saying, “Ooops” as he threw it, overhand, at the ground. And as a side benefit, Congress wouldn’t have been able to screw things up at least for a couple hours.

  5. Accidentally drop it right by Nancy Pelosi, say oops, sorry, my bad… and call the HASMET Team in!!! I say Fire em, fire em all!!!!

  6. If you DO manage to kick a liberal in the ass for legislating such idiocy, does it leave a CARBON FOOTPRINT? Thank you, Mr Poe, for a sign of intelligent life in the halls of congress, which is certainly a rarity these days.

  7. What if you accidentally step in the hazardous waste that appears when you accidentally drop a mercury bulb and THEN kick a liberal? Does that liberal then become hazardous waste?

  8. No, by definition and the application of logic, we can demonstrate that liberalism is already a waste, and their policies are certainly hazardous to all mankind, therefore they are already hazardous waste and therefore remain unchanged by having more waste spread upon them.

*(This is all tongue in cheek and should be taken as such. There is neither expressed nor implied a desire to dump toxic waste on my liberal friends, but to merely poke a little fun at them.)
** The previous explanation is required due to the notorious lack of a sense of humor on the part of liberals.

  9. I wonder if we could get a federal law passed to regulate said hazardous waste. Maybe we could forcibly ship it all to California or something.

  10. did anyone else notice the guy in the background laughing when Poe talked about Chinese products killing pets and poisoning children? (About 4:30)

  11. I did see that. Looked like rather nervous laughter. It looked like the laughter of someone thinking, “We better laugh at this guy or someone might believe that his factual information is true.”
