Representative Republic?
On my way in to work today, as my mind was wandering, I was thinking about the government in America. It was formed as a representative republic (not a democracy as some have been taught). But we have moved so far from that that we really are socialist. Seriously, I cannot find any evidence that we’re NOT a completely and totally socialist state. We can, quite literally, do nothing without government permission — which means that government truly does control all the means of production in the country.
This morning I got an email from my pal Big Dog where he provided a link to a recent column by Alan Stang. I don’t know anything about this Mr. Stang, but I read his article. At first, as Kat pointed out, it seemed entertaining. After all, it starts with
Now that Senator Hussein appears to have clinched the Democrud nomination, and the campaign between him and Senator McChurian Candidate unofficially begins, let’s ruminate together about what all this means for America.
But then the next paragraph moved very quickly away from the comedic to the ultimate terrifying truth:
The inconceivable, utterly unthinkable fact – as I write I am telling myself it can’t be – is that on Tuesday, November 4th, unless God decides He has had enough and intervenes by giving us Ron Paul, the American people will elect a Communist President of the United States. The only thing we don’t know as I write is which Communist they will elect.
And that is honestly true. Both of these candidates are communists, through and through. They do not believe in freedom. They do not believe in hard work. They do not believe that people should be able to keep things that they work for and own. And they will not allow Americans to be free while they rule. Know what would be really funny? If it were determined (and it sure looks like it’s true) that neither Hussein or Juan were eligible to be president? I think there are honestly legitimate question about whether either one was born in the United States, and I would truly love to see a do-over.
But now that we’re going to be communists, what will be different? Actually, not a whole lot from the government end of things. You see, communism is a system that says it’s simply not fair for some people to have more than others. So one of the primary purposes of communism is to make people free — from freedom. Yes, under a communist government you will be free from having other people have more than you — and you will be free from working and earning more than someone else. It’s total egalitarianism. And of course, to get there, instead of raising some people up (because many will not want to work and move up), the government will work to bring everyone else down. That’s how the system works — everyone is the same, and no one has more — everyone has less.
With health care and other issues, under our new communist government, no one will be allowed to have more than anyone else, because everyone will be free to have a little tiny bit. With sales and capitalism, everyone will be free to own some of the industry — and will be free from having to work hard to earn a portion. Some Democrat members of Congress have already jumped the gun and proclaimed that they want to have government take over ownership and operation of all natural resources — and under our new communist leaders, they will do so.
Elections will continue much as they are — you will be free to pick any members of the communist party (but they won’t call it that, they’ll call them “Republicans” and “Democrats”) that you want. No, you will not be able to pick anyone outside of the party. So elections will be much as they are in over 90% of all elections in North Carolina now: pick one of the following one people to represent you. And no, your write-in will not count (just like now).
However, an interesting side effect of this shift to communism will be religion. You see, under a communist system, government is god. Government says they will create jobs, and there will be jobs (like Obama says). Government says that the sea levels will fall, and they will fall (like Juan says). And if government IS god, then there is no room in such a place for God Himself — which is how it has been in every communist government in the history of the world. People end up having to put their faith into government to save them, instead of God. And government hates competition, so they are forced to outlaw religions like Christianity, that teaches about freedom. And they will.
So, you’re thinking that won’t happen here? Maybe you think we have a Constitution to protect us from government? And you think I’m living in a dream world. Wake up, people! The Constitution only applies when government wants it to. And in regards to religion, we can already see that Christians are not welcome in America — and are in isolated cases, already being arrested for being Christian. How about a few stories just from this week?
In CA, we have a judge who is actually supposed to rule whether having sex with an animal is obscene — while that very same judge has pictures of his own of having sex with animals. In other words, the judge has already made it clear that he likes sex with animals — and he’s supposed to rule on the law about that. If you think that the Bible says that having sex with animals is wrong, you are not welcome in California — and at least one judge there will rule against you.
In Colorado, it’s illegal to say that you don’t like homosexuals. And if a man tries to walk into the bathroom with your 8-year old girl and you stop him, you go to jail. If you believe the Bible says homosexuality is wrong, you are not welcome in Colorado.
In Massachusetts, the governor is openly violating the MA constitution in appointing a gay woman (and proven, open liar) to a family court. So if you believe the Bible says that homosexuality is wrong, at least one judge there will rule against you — and in the most dangerous of all places, the family court.
In Washington state, if you think that gay “marriage” is wrong, and you pass a state law against it, judges will ignore you and allow mayors to make new laws that are more important and more powerful than state laws. If you think gay marriage is wrong because of the Bible, you’re not welcome in Washington state and a mayor may have you jailed if he doesn’t like you.
And if you’re in Ohio and want to read the Bible in a library, that’s against the law as proclaimed by the bureaucrats who run the library. So if you want to read the Bible, you’re not welcome in Ohio, either.
That’s just in the last week — 5 states have made it clear that they have no desire to have Christians in their states, and they are using the force of government to punish those who believe the Bible. Now if you break one of their laws or rules proclaimed by the bureaucrats, what happens? The same thing that happens any time you do anything the government doesn’t like — you go to jail or get killed.
So yes, realize the next four years are going to be bad and get worse. Under communism, everyone suffers except the leaders. I will honestly be surprised if I make it through the next administration without being arrested and jailed for doing nothing more than exercising my own freedoms. I have always had faith that America would conquer and overcome everything. I always had faith that the hard-working would overcome the insanity of political posturing. But the more I read about history, the more I realize that no civilization is endless, and it sure looks like America, land of the free and home of the brace, truly is ended. I guess I shall by one of the last to die with that great refrain on my lips, “Live Free or Die.”

For exactly all the reasons you’ve stated, I am staunchly in favor of having a new option on every ballot where we are supposed to pick someone to “represent” us….. an option for “NONE OF THE ABOVE”. When none of the above wins, they are no longer eligible for the office they were seeking. A new election would necessarily be required, with an entirely new set of names. Piss off the public again with untenable choices, and the slate could always be cleared again. We the people deserve better than we’ve been getting, and the least among evils just doesn’t get it. We need the option of taking out the trash, not having to live with it.
I would love that option. However, I can see the fear that politicians would spread: “Oh, we can’t do that, what will happen when no one wins and there’s no government to save you?”
Of course, what would happen is that people might realize they don’t actually NEED government — which would utterly and complete derail the vast majority of politicians who LIVE to take from some to make others dependent on them.
