Excellent Economic Times… For Government

I’ve mentioned before that during these recent times where the average, working, productive person is having troubles economically (not bad trouble, but few are unaffected by the massive gas prices), government is seeing no problem at all. Instead, government continues to just do whatever they want, no matter what. Back in the last decade, the North Carolina government expanded exponentially because “times were good and we could afford it.” Now that times are bad, government continues it’s massive expansion because “we can’t afford not to.”

Witness North Carolina governor Easley and his suggested 7% raise for bureaucrats. And yes, once again, the bureaucrats need to nothing to get their 7% raise. In fact, they can actually work LESS, produce LESS, and they still get their 7%. When is the last time you got a 7% raise? I bet if anyone reading this actually ever got a raise that large (and wasn’t “working” for government), you did something HUGE to get that — in other words, you were more productive. A raise of that size is generally unheard of for productive people.

But this isn’t about producing, it’s about leeching and taking. This is about government using it’s monopoly on force to buy votes so they can stay in power. This is about supporting the bureaucrat at the direct expense of people who work and produce. Go ahead, try and convince me we have freedom and free markets in this country. That’s simply not the case. Instead, we have a government that uses it’s monopoly on force to do, quite literally, anything they want without any limits, ever.

Oh, how I yearn for freedom.

  1. Did we expect anything less from “Tax Hike” Mike. Remember, it is an election year, and all those welfare recipients on the state payroll need to be reminded what party makes their life much easier and stress free.

  2. That’s it — buying votes of unproductive people with the cash of those who produce. Go ahead, convince me we’re a free country with a representative republic.

  3. Oh you guys… this has been my pet peave for years!!! The working folks are forced to take care of the unproductive, unmotivated in our society.

  4. And there is absolutely no end in sight, sadly.
