Catholics to NOT vote in 2008 Presidential Election

Wow, how did this news not get more coverage? The news reports are that Catholics in America will not vote in the 2008 Presidential Election. That’s a rather large voting bloc (around 60 million people) that’s going to be sitting out this fall. I’m amazed. And I’m more amazed that the news media hasn’t picked this story up.

Of course, I could be wrong — it could be that all 60 million will be voting this fall (where permitted by state officials) to vote for Chuck Baldwin. Even so, that should be news, too.

  1. For some strange reason, this came to mind, and it works on several levels:

What amazes me about “real” American papist (not the ones from “south of the border”) is why don’t they break away from the Pointed Headed One(PHO) in Rome and form their own Church. At one point there were 3 PHO’s at the same time in the middle-ages. They I think of all those wasted billions of American dollars going to keep the Roman PHO’s “living large” it makes me sick. Granted it is their money, but there is a major difference between the American and European papist, then factor in the corruption from the 3rd world papist, geez. Not to mention the Roman PHO is encouraging his 3rd world sheep to come to our country, just to enrich his own pockets, is justification IMHO to declare war on the Vatican.

I don’t know what the bigger leech on the free world is these days — organized religion or corporations. Maybe we just give up, have the New World Order give the masses a new “god” to pray too and move on.

Note: I believe in my own God, and don’t need some church or “shaman” type telling me how to live my life, nor what I should believe, or inflicting my belief system on another.

  2. Wuptdo,

I noticed one big omission from your comment.

You state, “I don’t know what the bigger leech on the free world is these days — organized religion or corporations.”

Neither of those 2 entities can use legal force on the populace to make the people do as they want (at least in this country). The bigger leech that I believe you missed is the government and the unworthy bueacrisies it endlessly makes. They can and do use force in the form of economic ruin, imprisonment or death to get what they want.

  3. “Their king with the pointy hat what sits in Rome.”

    Now that’s funny, right there.

And yes, as Sky points out so well — government is a much bigger leech because they have a monopoly on using force — and there is, quite literally, no one to put a check on their force.

FWIW, I think Catholics are loonies, anyway. They believe the Pope is the head of the church. I think the head of the church is much, much bigger and more infallible…

  4. Wup,

I realize you don’t believe as a Catholic, and that makes you a Protestant.. When you get over it, you’ll still be a church-basher with a little bit of a history lesson needed…. Martin Luther died still thinking he was a good Catholic. The Catholic mass and the protestant worship service are the same in most regards except protestants don’t have the benefit of Communion in the spiritual sense…. but more of a Rodney “why don’t we all just get along” King sense.

As for government, there’s no such thing as a big government being a good government. The best government is the government that governs least. And from where I sit, we’re in a governmental handbasket to Hell.

  5. I don’t think we’re on our way to hell — I think we’re already there.

  6. Just a question/statement per se. In other words, I’m interested in what ya’ll think. But isn’t many organized religions and corporations part of large lobbies, and aren’t many of our “representitives and senators” owned by various corporations and religious interests?
I think we can thank the recent “campaign reforms” made for the fact that the only way one can run for office is if they are millionaires because of the “wonderful reform”… in essence, it is my belief, that many organized religions and groups, along with large corporations and monied special interest groups are in essence the “government that is sucking the life out of American freedoms and pocketbooks!”. Do you believe I am under a misunderstanding about how it all works. I think of the whole conglomeration as being like “The Borg”.

  7. I don’t think that religions have the money, for the most part, to compete with corporations and labor unions that own politicians. Sure, there’s some influence, but not nearly as much.

  8. I would agree with you there. I think I would be much like Lot was in Sodom, trying to find just a few rightous men, in the halls of Congress! I have no doubt that most are there, not to represent their constituency, but rather to see to it special interests are served by our laws and tax dollars.

  9. I honestly believe, with that comparison, that the reason that America has not been destroyed like Sodom, despite the large number of wicked people, is that there are more than a few that continue to pray for all these wicked people. Not Catholics, they’re not allowed to, but others.

  10. I guess when I wake up one morning and it is raining fire on the entire earth we will all know the “praying masses” have quit praying and joined forces with the Libtard Church of the Goreacle, and the pray has been replaced with chants “Choice”. I do think you are right Ogre, mankind is holding on by a mere chain of prayers.

  11. And in a similar way that the military protects the ability of fools to protest the military, I imagine Christians will continue to protect the ungodly for a long time.
