NC Primary Election Results

Well the election is over in North Carolina. And it was a good day. Well, if you don’t like freedom, of course.

John McCain got 74% of the vote. Apparently very few people wanted to “send a message” to McCain. The Huckster got 12% and Ron Paul only got 7%. Alan Keyes, who very few people even knew was on the ballot, got 3%. The message to McCain from North Carolina is clear: “We love you and your hatred of the Constitution!”

Queen Elizabeth (Dole) got her 90% of the “vote.” I’m sure the queen is not amused.

Patrick McHenry easily crushed his challenger 67-33. His is clear to continue engaging in, well, anything he wants. The district is drawn so while some will claim there’s an election in November, there’s not. McHenry will serve another term.

Pat McCrory is the Republican candidate for governor. Now, if you like McCain (and apparently Republicans in NC do), then you’ll like McCrory. They both are legends in their own minds, and they both love to make deals with Democrats that give Democrats exactly what they want. Guess that’s just another reason for me not to vote in November. In fact, the more I look at the election, the less reasons I see to vote. I haven’t missed an election since I’ve been able to vote, but I honestly cannot come up with any reason to vote this fall.

For Lt Governor (a Democrat position), Pittenger got 59% of the vote. He’s a great guy. He doesn’t have any chance at all in November. I think the over/under on his vote count in the fall is 28.

Richard Morgan won the Republican nod for Superintendent of Public Instruction. Richard Morgan is a solid Democrat and will serve the Democrat Party well. And I’m not talking in a Juan McCain way — Morgan is a much stronger Democrat than McCain. Heck, Morgan is a more reliable Democrat than Lieberman or Gore.

Bob Rucho is in for NC Senate. He’s a great guy, but he will be in the super-minority there, so all he’ll be able to do is talk. Mostly, he’ll just be ignored because he won’t be suggesting tax increases or spending increases.

In the only real surprise of the night, Karen Ray lost! I really didn’t expect that to happen. Now this Grey Mills fellow — who I still don’t trust simply because he’s a lawyer — will get a chance to see if he’s actually a typical lawyer — one who loves taxes, spending, and power — or if he’ll do what he claimed in his campaign. If he doesn’t, I guess we’ll see if someone else will challenge him in 2 years — or if Ray will come back and try again. He only won by 114 votes, so there may be various recounts.

In other words, this election shows that everything will continue just as it has been. We will remain a government by the government and for the government. We will continue to tax and increase taxes on produce to give to people who are lazy bums. Government will continue to expand and America will continue to decline. Freedom will continue to decrease, and those of us who actually want capitalism, freedom, and Constitutionally-based government will continue to be marginalized. Oh well, I can still dream of being free (at least until that’s outlawed, too).

  1. Do you really think that McCain hates the constitution?

  2. He may not hate it, but he certainly has no respect for it, nor does he believe in obeying it.

  3. I like your site. I too am an Alan Keyes supporter in fact I have his flyers all over my truck. Look, I been saying this alot lately . we need to reach everyone we can, Send flyers to family and pen pals(My wifes Favorite route) traveling? make up signs, post flyers where ever you go, got a kid coming home from college pick them u and hand out flyers. Grassroots all the way and we can put an honest man in the White house(Dont say Grass to loudly around Ron paul He might hand you his lighter) Anyway I live here in the messed up state of North Carolina too. one last thing tell people about the Iowa debacle and that alone will make them do research. Marc

  4. Mc Cain , is a dishonest soldier who, in my brothers opinion needs to be shipped back( he served in Vietnam too) He did not support Chaplin Killinshmitt.( He was Court martialed for ending a prayer in Jesus name.) So yes John Mc Cain has no honor and disrespects the Constitution he SWORE to defend.
If he really does have the medal of Honor it needs to be taked back. Marc

  5. Well in North Carolina, Alan Keyes is now prohibited by law from running for president. There’s a law that says that if you lose in a party primary that you cannot run as a write-in. I’d love to see Chuck Baldwin as president, but the North Carolina board of elections will work hard to ensure that you WILL choose either McCain or whatever the socialist Democrat party puts up.

And McCain has no medal of honor.

  6. What I mean to say is that I think when you say something so outrageous as “John McCain hates the constitution” it discredits your whole argument and prohibits any kind of meaningful discussion. I understand you disagree with his social policy, but it seems a tremendous leap to go from that to him hating the constitution.

  7. Would it be better if I just said, “Dislikes?” How about “think it’s rather outdated and inconvenient?” It’s not his “social” policy. I outlined in the post later today (Who is Chuck Baldwin) numerous instances in which McCain completely disobeys the Constitution — that same thing he swore to uphold.

So maybe he doesn’t hate it — but he certainly doesn’t like it.

  8. I am a Vietnam Marine and no McCain did not serve honorably; and whatever his sentiments toward the Constitution, he is non compos mentis. It’s terrifying that this guy will have access to nuclear powered anything. Same with Obama.
I like Keyes and I’m glad that the numbers for No Preference, Keyes and Paul reflected an anti-McCain perspective.

FTR, Rucho is not so great - check his record for the past 5 years and you’ll find that he, Fred Smith and Richard Morgan had a good deal more in common than most may believe. Additionally, he was the one to advise the two R Senators who ‘took a walk’ during the Lottery vote, to do just that.

  9. Obama won’t have access to nuclear anything — he’s clearly announced that he will never, ever, under ANY circumstances use nuclear weapons. That’s his policy.

I wish Ron Paul had outright won North Carolina. But then again, the people who vote in North Carolina actually like socialism, as witnessed by their statewide elections and selections for governor, so I’m not surprised.

I’ve talked to Rucho a lot of times in person. He’s not perfect. He’s a LOT better than most Republicans. As for the two Senators who were missing during the lottery vote, one was suddenly in the hospital for a broken leg. One suddenly was on a very expensive vacation. I don’t think there was a lot of “talking” going on there.

  10. The two R Senators were both ‘on call’ and fully aware that the lottery vote was on. Harry Brown’s ‘vacation’ was a honeymoon that just happened to end up that week, however, the Senator was on call and able to match his no vote with a yes vote but did not return the call (like Marines, Senators are on call 24/7 for the same reasons) and the other gent John Garwood had a broken leg but in three consecutive phone calls that day voted to 1) match his no vote with a yes 2) not to match his no vote 3) not to match his vote. During the election Garwood claimed that he ‘did not vote for the lottery’ but his constituents knew the truth threw him out over his misrepresentation.

Ask Sen Min Ldr Phil Berger about all of this. I doubt he will ‘rat’ Rucho out, but insiders down there know how quite often Rucho, Stevens, Hartsel and sometimes even Forrester crossed the isle and were quietly referred to as the Senate RINOs.

  11. Interesting. I had indeed heard that both Senators did not return calls for the vote. I still question payments for that honeymoon and the timing. I’m not really buying that it was just coincidence.

As for Garwood, I just heard he was also “unreachable” and that he was actually in surgery when the vote was called.

I’ve not heard Rucho considered a RINO — but I have heard Hartsel, Garwood, and Forrester called that. Quite interesting, thank you for this information.
