McHenry Pictures
So word is that Patrick McHenry is in trouble. It’s apparently time for the big “October surprise” in May. Numerous, and I do mean numerous, blogs and web sites are featuring “new” photos of Patrick McHenry — supposedly cavorting with a lesbian and her partner.
I’m confused.
The sites featuring these pictures are not from Lance Sigmon, Patrick McHenry’s opponent. Instead, they’ll all Democrat and leftist websites (in general). So why aren’t they supporting Patrick McHenry? The sites are questioning whether McHenry himself is gay. But if McHenry is gay, or if he’s living with another man, or if he’s cavorting with lesbians, wouldn’t that make him on THEIR side? Wouldn’t that give THEM support? Shouldn’t they be celebrating that he’s with them?
This stinks. I’m no fan of McHenry, but something really stinks here.

Thanks for the cross-post about the article on BrandonGreeson.com. I wanted to add some clarity about this story.
First… the issue of McHenry’s sexuality has been an issue far before he won election in 2000. The rumors have been frequent and they have been many. Until now, no one was willing to provide any solid evidence to link McHenry & his gay buddies.
The major issue for many of us who are reporting on this issue, is that McHenry claims to be a “traditional values conservative” touting policies against the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. In that, he is not only being a hyprocrit - but he’s fighting at the core of who he is.
These photos only touch the surface of McHenry’s involvement in the LGBT community in Gaston County and the area.
As for the “right” candidate to take McHenry’s seat - you may know from my site that I believe Daniel Johnson is the best candidate. After 8 years of failed Bush policy and McHenry hypocricy, the 10th district is hungry for someone that can help bring back jobs, protect all of our people and make honest & clear decisions.
I hope this helps clear up your “confusion.” Stay tuned for details - you can always find the latest happenings by logging on to McHenryExposed.com
Ogre, please don’t fall for the lies of progressives, and become an enabler. They hate McHenry because he is a conservative.
Just check out some of their offerings. They are small, hateful people. And if they take down their videos, just contact me, for I have downloaded them all.
Well that’s my point, Thunder Pig — if they hate him so much, why try to expose him for being one of them? This just screams hypocrisy. If he really were what they’re claiming here, they should be celebrating that they’ve got Republicans on their side. They should be quietly rejoicing that they are getting what they want. But they’re not. That’s why this thing really stinks.
Thanks for stopping by, Brandon. And thanks for trying to help me understand. I still don’t completely get it because if McHenry is gay, I don’t see why the left doesn’t like him. Sorry, I can’t support Johnson — or McHenry — or ANY other candidate that wants to “bring jobs.” I want to vote for candidates who will follow the Constitution — and there’s nothing in there about the power to create jobs. In my opinion, in a free society, government has NO business creating any jobs, ever.
Ogre, you think that the gay community should like the fact that McHery is gay? You think we should throw a party? Why do you feel that way?
McHenry has been a very verbal opponent of gay rights since he took office. His vote in the US House has been anti-LGBT on every level. He voted against hate crimes prevention, voted against employment non-discrimination, voted FOR a constitutional amendment defining marriage as betwee one man and one woman. The gay community has nothing to celebrate in Patrick McHenry. He has done us injustice in both word and deed. There just isn’t anything to celebrate.
Thunderpig, because I refer to myself as “progressive” doesn’t exclude me from voting for Republicans or other conservative or constitutionalist candidates. My reason for posting the photos has nothing to do with hatred. It has to do with a Congressman who says one thing and does another. And, FYI, McHenry is not married and refuses to answer/respond to the issue related to his sexuality. If he’s not gay, why not “nip it in the bud?” Sometimes the truth is easier avoided.
Okay, I understand a little more now. First, it doesn’t make a lot of sense that if he’s gay that he opposes those things. However, if he’s voted that way, he has. I would think that perhaps members of the gay community then should try and work with him. I wonder why they don’t go ahead and expose him, perhaps, but then continue to work with him. I would think a gay Republican would be great for that community.
Again, I’m not supporting McHenry. I think he has done some shifty things related to politics in the past, and that’s not even considering how he has voted on various issues.
But if you’re just opposing him because he disagrees with your positions, that’s one thing. I just would think that if he were gay that he would be more inclined to agree with those issues. If he’s gay and voting that way, it just shows he’s not qualified, well, to do any more than mow my lawn; much less be an elected Congressman.
The reason the progressives are going after McHenry is because he has come out against the Gay Lesbiam groups for so long.
Larry Flint of Hustler offered $1Million reward for the outing of ANY elected that practices one thing and preaches another.
Recall that Mike Rogers outed Foley and Craig and is taken seriously.
I wonder if anyone is going for that $1 million reward in this case. I’d love to hear about it, if that is the case! Thanks for stopping along and adding to the conversation.
What I can tell you as fact:
Some months ago, I was told in confidence by reliable conservative GOP type and it confirmed by the local law, that Hustler was in Hickory talking with someone about pictures of McHenry they had.
Last year, I was told by the CoS of one of our other Congress persons that he was on Gonzale’s list to be investigated and on Hastert’s short list of expendables.
And, I do keep hearing that CBS will take more of an interest in telling another McHenry story if he has a general election.
I also know that McHenry’s is blaming his legal troubles on his consultant Dee Stewart and has implied that Stewart is responsible for the continual campaign fraud allegations.
As for myself, I am a long time R activist and emailer. Via email I have been in receipt of reports by both Ds & Rs regarding McHenry over the past three or so. And, as a result of these reports and my own digging, I am unhappily convinced that in addition to some pre-existing morality problems he seems to have entered public office with, McHenry has traded the hopes of many of us for good, strong representation in exchange for power. And he himself seems to have has beome a corrupted power bully.
I don’t know if this can be remedied, but one way or another, let’s pray that it can be.
Thank you very much for that information. I’m voting for Lance Sigmon, so perhaps McHenry won’t be causing trouble much longer. And I have to agree, from what I have seen of him (and I have seen him and met him in person a number of times), the “corrupted power bully” label does seem to fit.
I just see a BS issue from the left, trying desperately to make something out of nothing. Just because McHenry is against gay marriage doesn’t mean he hates gays, but, of course, that is the Liberal Script that must be obeyed.
It all comes down to, no matter what the left says, that McHenry is conservative, and must be defeated. All the high fallutin “he’s a hypocrite” talk and the other talking points are just window dressing.
I will tell you — all the vehement opposition of the left to this guy is making me start to rethink my own opposition to him. If the left hates him this much, maybe he’s not so bad.
Does anyone have common sense anymore? What is all of this “left versus right” conspiracy theory? Let’s take a close look at the facts:
1) Patrick McHenry is 32 years old and is not married. He has never been seen legitamately “dating” a female.
2) He OWNS property with other males close to his age. He isn’t renting with a roommate, he co-owns property with other single 30yo-something men. (He could certainly afford to live alone, so it’s a definite choice on his part to live with another man)
3) The figures represented in these newly released photos are of self-proclaimed “traditional values conservatives.” They were provided to the blogosphere by other self-proclaimed “traditional values conservatives.”
Regardless of where you stand on the issues, we can all agree that all public officials should be held accountable to all of their constituents. That accountablity begins with being honest about yourself and your position on the issues. None of us are going to find a “perfect” candidate, even among “traditional values conservatives” you can have a dozen approaches to one topic.
I will not keep responding to the resounding gong of residual “conservative-bashing” by the “liberals.” I can honestly stand before you and before God and affirm that my actions would be no different if it was a Democrat.
Anyone who pays thousands of dollars to say “I believe this way”… yet lives their private life the exact opposite is a hyprocrit. That’s the cold hard facts - it doesn’t matter if you’re Republican, Democrat, Black, White, Christian, Atheist, Man or Woman.
I can also assure you that the release of the photos were in no way “time measured” or calculated. All of the blogs listed in this article have DOZENS of articles about McHenry going back several years. Our attitude about McHenry’s dishonesty hasn’t changed because of May 6th creeping around the corner.
Let me remind you again that it was “traditional values conservatives” that turned the photos over to the blogosphere. It is also “traditional values conservatives” that want the photos to hit the “mainstream” media and be reported on.
So, the issue has nothing to do with how well of a job McHenry does on Capitol Hill. It is about McHenry saying one thing and doing another. Trying to paint the release & reporting on these photos as a “progressive attack” is only an attempt to divert attention and crediblity from reality - McHenry is a liar and he has now been caught.
Well, I can’t see it quite as simply as that — because we’re told over and over and over again that we’re simply not allowed to question someone who is gay. We’re not allowed to judge them for anything because they’re gay. If you’re gay, you get completely different standards than people who aren’t gay. Heck, in many states, you get a different set of rules and laws applied to you if you’re gay. So, if McHenry is indeed gay, then by attacking him (even if it’s for his dishonesty), then it’s gay-bashing.
Just look at Obama (similar situation) — if you question any of his policies, you’re a racist. Therefore, following the same liberal logic, if you question McHenry’s integrity, you’re homophobic.
No, it doesn’t make sense, but I’m just trying to remain consistent to the liberal mindset.
Ogre… I hope I can simplify things for you.
First, I’m not gay-bashing McHenry. I’m gay, totally out and quiet frankly I’m totally honest about my positions on the issues (even though I’m not an elected official). You will not find me saying that I believe one way and then living something totally different.
Gay-bashing would be me attacking McHenry because he is gay. That’s not what these photos are doing. They are drawing attention to the fact that McHenry says one thing, but does another. We have never said that he shouldn’t be gay - by all means if that is who he is.. then he should be honest about it.
As far as the Obama issue, I have experienced the issue first hand that you mention. I’m not a supporter of Obama - nothing to do with his race, but I’ve been told that many of my statements against Obama’s dishonesty are because I’m a racist.
The fact is, Vernon Robinson played that same game when he ran for US House 4 years ago. As a black conservative, anyone who spoke against his policies were called racist. That’s just dirty politics and an effort to divert someone from the truth.
In our case, the truth is that McHenry - in all assumptions is living as a straight, Catholic, traditional conservative, businessman. But, behind closed doors his actions tell us that he may not be all that he claims to be.
Some would argue what he does behind closed doors is his business. (Many progressives used that argument for President Clinton during the “scandal.”) The fact is, as a public official, McHenry should be transparent before his constituents. After all, we’re his employer. It’s our job to make sure that we’re choosing the best person for the job.
I must say, that I agree with you, in that Col. Lance Sigmon is definately a better choice than Patrick McHenry. I’ve had the pleasure of shaking hands with Col. Sigmon and I believe that he is sincere and honest about the issues he supports.
I hope you don’t take this as an insult, but it’s a pleasure to meet someone on the left who actually can make coherent conversation. No, really. Most times someone who comments here that has leftist or Democrat views, they end up just calling me names.
I do understand just pointing out hypocrisy. If that’s all you’re doing, I’m completely with you. But as Teach implied, you have to admit, the timing on the photos is very suspicious. And the details behind them are also. They look to be very old pictures — many years at least.
But again, I’m with you on the opposition to McHenry — but not just because of this issue. The more I read, the more it appears his first election was more rigged than most. Thank you very much for stopping by and having a decent discussion about this one. Do feel free to stop by any time and talk about any other issues as well! And in just a couple days now we’ll find out whether McHenry will be on the ballot come November! I’ll be voting Sigmon.
McHenry is now claiming that Ballenger has dementia and that is why he published a letter and a recording endorsing McHenry’s opponent Lance Sigmon.
McHenry’s staff initially questioned the legitimacy of the the endorsement but once they learned that it was legit, they assert that Cass is slipping mentally.
Ballenger changed his support of McHenry after the pictures emerged.
That whole thing with Ballenger was just crazy! I couldn’t keep up with all that “he said, he said” stuff. Insane! At least it (may) be over today. If McHenry wins, as he’s predicting (I think he predicts like a 50- or 60-point win), then we’ll see if Democrats can put anything up. I’m pretty sure that no one has a chance against the Republican nominee the way that district has been drawn.
I believe you are right. However, even if McHenry wins both elections, the scandal won’t go away and he will continue to be fodder for Democrats and he will be a pariah among his own kind. He will become useful only in the sense of his vote and at some point may be asked to resign.
I can see it headed that way — McHenry may become a national name — but he won’t be asked to resign. The only thing you have to resign for in politics today is speaking the truth. If you say a factual statement that isn’t politically correct, you’re out the door. Quite literally anything else goes. Witness: Larry Craig. McHenry won’t be asked to resign if he’s caught with his pants down in Barney Frank’s office.
There is definately more to the McHenry scandal that what the public is privliedged to right now. Should McHenry win the Republican nomination, I’m sure you’ll see more stuff surface. But as the host of Reading Rainbow says: “You don’t have to take my word for it.”
Oh, I believe you! I don’t doubt that there’s lots more to come. I just question whether it will make one bit of different to, well, anyone. The district is drawn to elect a Republican. It appears the vast majority in the district hit the “R” button and go on their way. I don’t they will care if he’s a raging homosexual. And I know the Republican leadership won’t do a thing. They’ll just claim, “Oh, the people will decide.”
Brandon:
Then, using you criteria about McHenry, you would think that I am gay. I am 40, single, never married (and not planning on it), and haven’t been seen in public dating since my college years.
Some of us have better things (in our opinion) to do than procreate like thoughtless animals. Plus, I cannot afford children (or marriage) so, I wisely (in my opinion) choose not to add to my problems.
I’ll give you that McHenry certainly appears to be immature at times.
He is a reliable conservative, and I don’t trust self-funded candidates like Sigmon. To the tune of $80,000 of his $90,000n raised. I’ll pass.
