Changing Handles?

So, I’m thinking about changing my online name. I’ve been “Ogre” since, I guess back on an aircraft carrier in the 1980s. But I’m thinking, with the amount of observing the loss of freedoms, and the knowledge that freedom is going away, that perhaps I should change my name to Don Quixote. Or maybe Ogre Quixote. OQ? Ogre Q?

I keep fighting for freedom, I just know I can’t win!

  1. How about Ogre Q. Citizen?

  2. That’s not bad… Peon Q. Ogre?

  3. Peon makes it sound like you’re defeated.

  4. Rebel?

  5. Too redneck.

  6. How about Revolutionary?

  7. Revolutionary Q. Ogre. It has a very political air to it.

  8. Oh, I like that one. Maybe the Revolutionary Ogre?

  9. ROQ. or RQO

    Catchy. Easy to remember.

But I’ll always call you Ogre because it would really hard for me to change your handle. LOL

  10. Heh. That’s what I’m afraid of — so many people know me by Ogre… Maybe I’ll just change the name of the blog…

  11. How about Ogre Fremont? Fremont is old german name for ‘guardian of freedom’. Or Guardian Quixote (GQ for short… grin)…

  12. No matter your name, you shall always be our Monsignor of the Breweries.

    :-)

  13. I wonder, VW, if anyone would get the irony of an Ogre going by “GQ…”

    Aw, thanks, KT!

  14. My favorite Rebel General… Nathan Bedford Forrest… The Wizard of the Saddle. Why… he was from humble beginnings, dirt poor and rose to prominence in civilian life and then in War. He was a natural at calvary and military tactics and became a major thorn in the side of Grant and Sherman. He was also brave beyond the pale! A natural genius, much like his nemesis, Abe Lincoln. My thoughts are, maybe it’s time for the Freedom loving Ogre to become the Freedom Wizard???? Just a thought!

  15. Freedom Wizard? Oh, that fits too well.

Whenever I hear the name “Nathan,” I think of one of my heroes from when I was a kid. I did a report on him in GRADE SCHOOL. I bet such a report would not be permitted in today’s schools. He was famous for “I regret that I have but one life to give for my country.” Of course, that’s Nathan Hale, a true hero of the American Revolution.

  16. I’m kind of fond of Stonewall Jackson too. Brilliant people with idiosyncrasies intrigue me. LOL!!!

How about Admiral Farragut, during the battle of Mobile Bay, he had a severe attack of vertigo… so he had his first mate strap him to a mast so he could continue to command the battle. The were being attacked by the Rebs with torpedos so he was quoted saying, “Damn the torpedos… full speed ahead”!

  17. Another true classic saying, that’s for sure! Good times.

  18. How ’bout Susan?

Tick: It’s your turn now, Thorace-bog.
    Thrakkorzog: It’s Thrakkorzog. Thrakkorzog. With a K.
Tick: We’re only serving humble pie, Whatchamazog.
Thrakkorzog: For the last time, it’s…
    Tick: Thorax-and-a-bog. Four-yacks-and-a-dog.
    Thrakkorzog: No.
    Tick: Ah, laxative-log.
    Thrakkorzog: No, no, no.
    Tick: Sapsucker-frog.
    Thrakkorzog: Thrakkorzog.
    Tick: Susan?
Thrakkorzog: Now you’re doing it on purpose. How juvenile.

    A bit of humor.

  19. I was thinking about Bruce…

  20. I favor the name “Ogre Quixote.” As a Spanish major, I get the connotation.

  21. Maybe I should combine them all… Then again, “Ogre Quixote” allows me to keep the “Ogre” part and just add a last name of sorts…
