Sigmon vs. McHenry, Round ??
The massive battle for the 10th Congressional district continues. Now, apparently, Congressman Patrick McHenry (NC-10) is threatening to sue his challenger!
In case you missed it, his challenger, Lance Sigmon has posted an ad that claims McHenry may have violated Espionage laws. McHenry, to my knowledge, has never once denied ANY of the statements made by the Sigmon campaign. Instead, McHenry is threatening to sue for “Defamation.” I wonder why McHenry is threatening to sue and isn’t actually suing. Is it perhaps because his case has no basis?
Stay tuned, just a couple more weeks of this craziness in this election. I still suggest voting for Lance Sigmon, if you have the option. And heck, it’s North Carolina, so anyone who wants to, citizen or not, can come to NC and vote. McHenry got some votes from TN students last election. Feel free to show up, give and address, register and vote. That’s how elections work in NC today.

I have to totally agree with you. The funny thing is, apparently McHenry is not threatening to “sue”- he’s threatening something along the lines of a misdemeanor (which is what the law’s listed as online, anyway), and doesn’t even really intend to sue. That’s what happens when you don’t have anything to base yourself on.
All it would take, as far as I’m concerned, is a simple denial. McHenry could stay above the fray by saying, “Sigmon is simply wrong, there’s no way I broke any laws, now let’s talk about the issues.”
But he has yet to deny anything.
