News and Observer Likes Violent, Evil Criminals
A long editorial in the Raleigh News and Observer whines and complains. The editorial board feels very sorry for violent child murderers who rape, torture and kill little children. The Observer thinks that it’s not nice for these evil, horrible people to suffer one second of pain for their crimes. Instead, these disgusting, vile people should, according to the Editors at the Observer, be given free food, education, libraries, and basically anything else they want. It’s just not nice to do otherwise.
At issue, of course, is the recent Supreme Court decision that says it’s not cruel and unusual to medically kill someone with a calming series of drugs as punishment for the most serious and violent crimes.
Now I don’t mind opposition to the death penalty — but is it too much to ask for people to be honest? If the editors are so opposed to the death penalty, perhaps they should spend more time trying to rally people together and change the laws instead of publishing crap whining about the possible few minutes of pain that these horrible monsters are put through. Of course that might turn out to be a bit more difficult than whining, wouldn’t it?
