Gun Rights News

There hasn’t been a great deal of news about the old, outdated concept of self-protection and the second amendment lately. Well, with the exception of the case in DC where the Supreme Court MAY rule on whether the second amendment to the Constitution is actually Constitutional. Of course, that is all likely to change with the next president, because none of the three top candidates support people owning guns at any time in any place. However, there’s been a couple things of note.

The Supreme Court of CA recently had a VERY tough case in front of them. The fairy nannys in San Francisco wanted to ban the second amendment in their city. The residents voted that no one except criminals would be allowed to have guns or ammo in their communist city. While the Supreme Court had to LOVE that concept, it interfered with the state’s ultimate power to control guns they way THEY wanted to. So the court had to rule that the state could overrule city laws; which had the result of overturning the ban. That HAD to be painful for those gun-haters.

And while some people are still completely delusional about why people own guns, and in total denial of facts, others understand that guns prevent crime. That’s a fact, whether you want to admit it or not. And now, the state of Florida wants to allow people to defend themselves at their place of work. In short, the law allows people to take their guns to work where the workplace might outlaw those guns.

Personally, I don’t think this law is needed. I think it’s an intrusion on property rights, myself. And this is an issue I’ve faced before. I have worked (for a short time) at places that prohibited me from having a gun in my car on their property. If it’s a government facility, they don’t have the right to do this. However, if it’s a private company, it’s their company, and they should be able to do that.

Of course, when I was told that, I explained in legal terms that the company was then taking total responsibility for my safety from the moment I left my house. I explained to them that if I were ever injured or robbed on the way to work when I stopped for gas, I was holding the company personally responsible, because they denied me my right to protect myself. And that should be completely legal and that IS the function of government, to enforce those contracts. When the company said that I could not defend myself en route to work, they were making a contract that claimed they were completely responsible for my defense. Of course, in today’s legal system, common law and logic don’t apply, so I would likely lose that case — which is why Florida’s law was passed. See how quickly government can screw things up when they do the wrong thing — needing more government to attempt to solve the problem — which only creates more problems. Wouldn’t it be great if instead we were all free?

  2. Well, personally I believe that Obama primarily hates guns because dictators always have trouble ruling when their subjects are armed…

  3. Disarm law abiding people in the USA.
    Where Citizen becomes subject!
Vote Democrat and kiss your right to protect yourself goodbye!!

  4. Sort of. I suppose it would be more accurate to say (at least this year in the presidential election):

Vote Democrat and certainly forget your guns, vote Republican and probably forget your guns.

  5. I will not give up my guns for anyone. It is my right to have them and no matter who gets in the White House I will not give them up.

  6. That seems to be the attitude of most gun owners I know today. Washington can pass all the laws they want, but I’m keeping my guns. I think Washington knows that, and they’re trying to figure out the best way to make other people hate guns so much that those with guns will have to hide them and go away.
