Charlotte government once again shows it’s total incompetence. As most of you who live in the area know, they raised taxes (fees) on water by a whopping 15%. That’s right, no matter what they call it, it’s a 15% tax increase.

Now they claim it’s because people saved water (because they were forced to by government under threat of jail). But that’s not quite true. It’s actually because today’s government has no concept of economics or reality. It’s because the words “less” and “reduce” simply do not exist in the bureaucrat’s mind. They literally cannot conceive of actually spending less money. If a business had a reduction in revenue, they would stop spending so much money. They might reduce salaries. They might even fire a few people. But today’s government never, ever, will consider any of those options. The only “option” they can see it to take more money from working people.

Worse, the primary reason give for the MASSIVE tax increase was because the utilities commission wanted to “protect their bond rating.” That’s fair, right? We should force people to pay 15% more for things because government wants to take care of itself, screw everyone else. Once upon a time, government served people. That concept is long gone and forgotten by today’s bureaucrats.
