It’s not just in New Mexico where this happens. This is most often the option in North Carolina, as well. Last election, over 80% of the contests had no competition at all.

And what is just as disturbing is that there are no provisions to write in someones name on the NC ballots.

Actually, Teach, NC is worse — there IS a space for write-ins! You can write in anyone you want on your ballot. What they don’t tell you when you vote is that if you do write in someone, they won’t count it! Literally, if 90% of the people wrote in, say, Alan Keyes for president, they wouldn’t count even one of those votes. That’s even worse than not having the option!
