China Olympics
Very accurate. I understand why the US is participating, but it’s sad that money is more important than freedom and right.

I love the cartoon!
Serious question: Why is the US participating? Is there a lot of money to be made? If so, who’s making it? NBC?
It is about the money — the US government is getting cash from products. Politicians are getting cash from businesses who are basically bribing them to get favorable trade laws. Businesses who have already paid billions for advertising are pressuring the US because they don’t want to lose their investment.
In other words, everyone but the athletes and working people are getting piles of cash from this event.
Global commerce and profitability have clouded our minds to the fact that by its very communist nature, augmented by its status as a nuclear power, China is our enemy.
Like the Muslim world, China has found useful fools in the leadership and media of western countries. China also holds a ton of U.S. debt, as we have no problem selling them our treasury paper.
There will eventually be a war between us, whether it’s in our lifetime or during a future generation: There is simply no room on this planet for both of us, as there wasn’t for the U.S. and the U.S.S.R.
I don’t think we should be playing “footsies” with Beijing as we’ve been doing. They should be shut out from the international “community” until they render their government more compatible with those of the rest of the world. Having an international athletics competition like the Olympics there is just plain obscene.
We may as well have the Olympics in North Korea.
You are absolutely correct Seth — but it’s even worse: China has not forgotten that we are their enemy. Indeed, we should be doing a LOT more to fight our enemy. They certainly are.
My guess, based on history, is that China is going to make an overt act very soon after the Olympics. Germany and 1933 comes quickly to mind. I suspect it will be against Tiawan, and I suspect it will be very soon, while they are looking “good” to the world BECAUSE OF the Olympic games.
If just ONE US Athlete would stand up, I think that would be wonderful. We have seen that Bush is perfectly willing to kowtow to China. And it’s rather embarrassing that the most vocal of those who actually realize that China is the enemy is Pelosi, Obama, and Hillary.
It is a disgrace that we are participating.
And even worse that were strongly supporting them while other heads of state at least are making a statement by boycotting the opening ceremonies. Neville Chamberlain, anyone?
