City Journal
The latest edition of City Journal is online. From the editors:
It’s been a pretty political month for us. A team of writers tackled the Eliot Spitzer imbroglio, addressing its relevance to New York, public morality, and even Aristophanes. We also tried to decipher the Obama phenomenon with pieces on the candidate’s European appeal, his speech about race, and his health-care plans. And senior editor Steven Malanga examined Obama’s and Hillary Clinton’s misguided ideas about poverty.
We also post weekly reviews of books and culture. In March, we featured (among others) John McWhorter on Larry Elder’s Stupid Black Men, Heather Mac Donald on City Opera’s Falstaff, and two great pieces on damaging books: Stefan Kanfer on Nicholson Baker’s Human Smoke, and Malanga on Richard Florida’s Who’s Your City?
