What Recession?
So here we sit, in the middle of a recession.
Says who?
Here is what you will see if you look around very closely — the vast, vast majority of people will say the same thing: “Oh, I’m doing okay; but what about all those other people?” In other words, they’re sure there’s a recession, but it’s not really affecting me.
And I know — everyone feels the gas prices. Everyone feels the food price increases. But overall, how are you doing? I’m willing to bet most of my good readers are all doing okay. How are you doing compared to 7 years ago? I bet you’re both making and spending MORE. That doesn’t sound like a recession. Did you know there’s actually a meaning to that word? Really, some words have meanings. And if you accept the meaning of the word, no, we’re simply NOT in a recession.
So, why is the media saying we are? It’s very simple. Do you know what the #1 item used to measure whether we’re having good or bad economic times, according to the press? No, it’s not unemployment numbers. Nope, not GDP (which is used to determine a recession). It’s not even job creation or income levels. No, not tax receipts either. Give up? The #1 item used to determine the state of the economy is the political party affiliation of the president. Seriously, the data backs it up. If there’s a Republican president, the economic news is bad. If there’s a Democrat, it’s good. Don’t believe me? Go read the article. It’s got the facts (as if they matter to anyone).
So, Bush a is Republican. Therefore, the economy’s bad. If Billarybama wins, the economy will be good (even if we actually go into a REAL recession or depression!) Newspeak: it’s better than being politically correct.

ah the comments werent workin earlier..phew! lol
Now that’s unusual…
The price of food and other goods has gone up- yes. Gas, heating costs, just about anything we BUY is higher priced. But is it enough to cause me to think we’re in a recession? Of course not. We’ve had some job cuts up my way- but mostly for old fashioned paper mills and the like. Places that didn’t modernize.
Me? I’m doing fine. I have to work a ton of hours because I can’t stand to see my bank account so low- but I have enough cash and assets to cover my expenses for awhile. If I didn’t, and if I lost my job, and , and….and….I’d JUST GET ANOTHER JOB!
I don’t see all the things being reported. I really don’t. It is all politics and election yr bulloney. The polcats and media are using the housing market “problem” as evidence of a more national trend- that no on is feeling the effects truly. Like you said it’s everyone else.
And, of course, price increases does not mean a recession.
It’s all a media myth — the entire “recession” concept.
