Plastic Scares Woman: She Demands it Be Banned
Why do stupid people get to make laws? Glenda Vietinghoff, a resident of Ocala, FL looked out her window and saw a piece of plastic. That piece of plastic scared her so bad she apparently wet herself. Therefore, she’s going to the city to demand they ban this evil plastic literally because the plastic is “very realistic” looking.
Oh, there’s no one in danger. There’s no one that’s been hurt. There’s no one that’s had anything happen to them. Nope, there’s not even anyone that’s even been CLOSE to being put in any physical danger in any way, shape, or form. But that doesn’t matter. What matters is that poor Glenda Vietinghoff is scared. Therefore, we should make a new law.
Greg Graham, Ocala’s police chief, seems to understand. He wants to work to “resolve her issue.” Hey Mr. Graham, if you truly want to resolve her issue, how about you contact the county psychiatric unit and see about having her admitted. Anyone who is this terrified of a damn piece of plastic has some serious mental issues. I think perhaps she is MUCH more a danger to other people than plastic being carried through the woods. I suspect more people are in danger from her and her insane rantings than have ever, or will ever, be in danger from the plastic that she’s terrified of.
Why do insane people like this even get a hearing? They should walk into city council, make their case, then the council members should point and laugh at her because she’s a nut. Alas, what is more likely is that the council will take her “very seriously” and will work on banning plastic being carried in public because people are scared. Of course, were I to ask them to ban things that are actually scared and have a great potential to kill people — like anything Muslim related — I’d be branded a hate monger.
Oh, how I yearn for freedom.

“The wooded area behind Vietinghoff’s home has become a popular spot for young men to shoot BB or pellet guns, and the neighborhood is home to a number of young children that could be endangered by the activity, she said.”
Now Ogre, the “piece of plastic” refers to bb guns and pellet guns, which judging by the dings in my cars and window glass over the years, is hazardous in residental areas where smaller children play. I personally don’t believe any kid should be messing with any kind of gun “unsupervised” unless they are out on a farm or something. I think this lady has gone over the top, but it is not as far fetched as people carring a “benign piece of plastic”, like a frisbee or something. Designation of safety rules for young kids shooting bb guns keeps them aware that with using any kind of weapon, safety rules apply.
The “kids” are 15 and over. NO ONE at any time was in danger. As far as this woman knows, no shots were ever fired. No BBs put out anyone’s eyes. This woman’s cats were not hit by stray BBs. She has claimed NO damages to anything she owns. She claims nothing about stray BBs. There is NO reference to ANY small children.
In other words, this has absolutely nothing to do with safety in any way, shape, or form. The woman freely admits that she’s terrified of the SHAPE of the plastic — NOT from the BBs. She’s a complete and total loon and should be laughed out of the council meeting.
Well we know from a Christmas Story that you can put your eye out with a BB gun.
And she says they are to realistic, um from what I remember BB guns have always been realistic looking.
I bet that if there were a law that made it so that the guns were less realistic-looking, then she’d complain that they looked like toys, but were too dangerous.
I think this woman is mentally dangerous. Does that mean I should get the government to ban her? She scares me.
“…and the neighborhood is home to a number of young children that could be endangered by the activity, she said.”
Just so you know I didn’t pull that one out of a hat… but I did miss the fact the boys with the guns were 15+ and the part about “they make them differently now”… that is stupid! I think you should get a law prohibiting her if you are “scared” because apparently one persons opinion that something is scary is enough to make a law over.
Note the last two words from your quote: “she said.” Not one of the parents of the “young children” had a complaint. Not one “young child” came forward to complain. Just this woman.
My guess is that the “young children” she’s talking about are the ones carrying the BB guns!
