Bush: China’s not bad

Some statements that come out of the president’s office really have me wondering — are these people honestly stupid, or are they intentionally stupid?

Bush [is] going to the games for the sports and not for any political statement.

Hello? Would someone please tell Bush that he’s the president. Going to the games IS a political statement — and it’s a damn strong political statement, too. It very clearly says to the world that America thinks communism is just fine. It says to Tibet, “Sorry, we’re not going to help you. That whole freedom thing? Yeah, that’s not us. You need to talk to someone else because we’re just interested in cash, but thanks for calling.”

They’re going to see China. And for the games. Because China’s not necessarily bad. Seriously. Bush is sending the world a clear political message: communism isn’t so bad, and we don’t mind it at all — especially if we get some cash out of it. Bush is still going to the Olympics. And he’s making a strong, blatant approval of communists killing people in Tibet — even if he claims he’s not. Actions speak a lot stronger than words. Remember before when I said it would take strong guts to boycott? Yeah, that’s not happening, is it? Who’s surprised?

  1. What did he just borrow from China? $50 Billion to just give us poor people a “tax rebate.” Meanwhile, the Mafia Princess and her crew are planning on the largest tax increase in history. And for what, so Nancy can keep her mexikcans picking grapes at her vineyards. The rich get richer, and everyone else gets poorer.

This is not the America our forefathers fought and died for.

  2. No, it’s nowhere near that America. Things like this are exactly why I strongly supported Ron Paul.

Taxes will go up, a LOT, next year, no matter who wins at this point.

  3. Ogre, I’m taking a wait and see attitude towards his visit, i.e. I’m waiting to hear what he says and the places he visits (Tianamen square?) before I pass final judgement.

  4. People are yearning to be free in Tibet and being killed for expressing it, personally, I think Bush has lost what little mind he had left!

  5. There’s a chance, Dean, that he might do something. However, his office has been very clear, over and over again — this is NOT a political visit, he’s just going to watch some sport.

And ArmyMom, you’ve got me thinking — maybe I should move to Tibet — then I’d be among people who think like me — who want freedom.
