Iredell County Republicans
TONIGHT
(March 13th) Fat Boy’s restaurant, right off exit 36 in Mooresville. Dinner at 6:00, program at 6:30.
Oh, how I wish I could be there for this one. I really do. Unfortunately, I had already committed to be somewhere with a group of kids, and I’m just not going to go back on that one.
But the program is supposed to include a debate between Karen Ray and Grey Mills, who are competing for the district 95 NC House seat. I would really like to see this one — two years ago I attended this “debate.” Karen Ray didn’t show up and instead sent a VERY rude and condescending woman in her place. This woman looked and talked down to everyone in the room and basically let them know that Karen Ray thought they were dirt. Somehow, she still won the election, unfortunately.
I’d really like to see if Miss Ray shows up tonight — and I wouldn’t mind meeting Mr. Mills!

Don’t you have a friend attending with a camcorder??? Then you could not only view it, but post it here! Next best thing to being there! Have fun with the kids tonight Ogre!!!
I wish I did. I don’t have friends, I’m an Ogre.
I think the most interesting part about this race will be to view how Mr. Mills is going to run as a strong conservative being that his everyday job is a trial lawyer. Suing insurance companies and ambulance chasing doesn’t rank very high in convervative forums. It will indeed be interesting.
Ogre, you have friends in the blogsphere, so THAT is not entirely true.
Good point, Going. I’ve known a number of lawyers in my life, and with just ONE exception ( http://boboblogger.mu.nu/ ), I’ve not known one who actually believes in right and wrong. Instead, they’re taught in lawyer school that good and right don’t matter — just winning does.
Ogre, good point made there. I know many lawyers as well and fortunately the only ones I have to deal with are real estate lawyers. I do consider real estate lawyers honest people (with exceptions of course) but they definitely do not make the money the trial lawyers make, no where close.
In my book at least, *republican* trial lawyers running for public office is about as bad as a profound conservative preacher holding a GOP seat and hiring prostitutes for $7.
I’d have to agree. I will never forget the day I talked to a student from law school who was very proud — she had won the same case (in an exercise) as both the prosecution and the defense. I asked her, “But was he guilty?” Her answer: “It doesn’t matter.”
I think this attitude is the biggest problem with our “justice” system today — and trial lawyers are at the center of it.
And it’s unfortunate that it happens both ways, guilty or not.
Have a good weekend Ogre. I’m headed out to hit the links. Looks like tomorrow isn’t going to be a very good day for doing much of anything.
Hope you get your play in before the rain comes today. I was supposed to attend a baseball tournament tomorrow, but it looks like instead I’ll stay inside and do some painting…
Or maybe mess around with my blog setup…
