Patrick McHenry: Influential?
I recently received a press release from the McHenry for Congress people. After reading it, I thought it might have been sent from his opponent:
Congressman Patrick McHenry (R-NC-10) was named the most powerful House Republican from North Carolina in the recently released Congressional Power Rankings by Knowlegis, a Washington-based data analysis and consulting firm.
The Power Rankings measure a Member’s position, indirect influence, legislative activity, and earmarks.
Wait, this is supposed to be a GOOD thing? He’s listed as the “most powerful House Republican from North Carolina.” Now keep in mind, he’s working in a House ruled by Nancy Pelosi. So if he’s “effective” and “has influence,” then he’s doing things that PELOSI supports. But wait, there’s more!
Did you catch that last item on the list? He’s apparently powerful because he’s successful with EARMARKS! Yes, according to this press release, Patrick McHenry has wasted the most government money of any Republican from North Carolina. And apparently he’s rather proud of that idea.
I wonder if the folks at Lance Sigmon’s campaign got this, too. I don’t see how it doesn’t help their campaign.
