Stupid Kids

A teacher has been working for a Houston school district for over 30 years. But people there are very, very upset with this 30-year veteran teacher. Why? Because she DARED to call some kids “stupid.” And of course, she’s been “removed from the classroom.”
Now I don’t know the teacher. And I haven’t heard the tapes. But the question really needs to be asked: “What if she’s right?” What if the kids ARE stupid? Don’t give me that “self-esteem” mumbo-jumbo. Seriously, if the kids are dumb as a box of rocks, what’s wrong with calling them stupid? It may not be “nice,” but should you be fired for calling someone stupid?

I think your absolutely right. 5 year olds dont need patience and kindness! when I think back on the fondest memories of my childhood, the verbal abuse really shines the brightest. But hey, to hell with them. Sounds like they were really goofing around……and on your dime no less…..probably a class full of liberals.

Children who are utterly devoid of academic talent are special while those who lack athletic talent should be humiliated routinely as a character building exercise. Notice any inconsistency here?

But we’re to protect people from finding out if they’re stupid, I think. I don’t know, maybe I’m stupid and I should just ask government to do more thinking for me.
Nice link. KT. Sad video, but that is not the exception, that’s the rule. The government education system is about jobs and cash and has absolutely nothing to do with learning or education at all. I’m sorry, but I believe the government education system is beyond hope.
No I was just saying the teacher sounded like a real jerk and hurling insults at young children isn’t a very effective teaching method. Sometimes you have to be patient with little kids……and I vote.
Oh, I didn’t say that patience was bad — I simply asked the question — what if the kids ARE dumb? If they are dumb, should we shield them from such information? Should we tell them they’re smart when they are dumb as a box of rocks?
LOL. It’s funny because it’s true. I work at Sharpstown Middle (in Houston ISD) and the students here ARE stupid. Getting fired is excessive… sounds like the principal was looking for a reason to get rid of the teacher. The older teachers IMO are entitled to judge since they’ve taught through several generations.
This current group of middle-schoolers are seriously the dumbest (read uninterested in their education). They show up to school to eat lunch and play “gangster” to impress their peers. Then the teachers are not allowed to fail them because of the “No child left behind” deal.
That’s why I’m asking — what if the kids really ARE stupid? Should we fire people for telling the truth now?

ogre i’m a little suprised because I actually really enjoyed KT’s video and you seem to be saying that this teacher cannot be fired despite parents and administration feeling that she should be, which sound a lot like what the corrupt teacher union in L.A. was saying. I think the thing to remember here is the the teacher is an employee of those students and that it is her job to TEACH them so that they are not stupid. If my child was in this class, I would be incredibly angry about what happened. Ogre this teacher is why you hate education. She doesn’t care about the kids, shes obviously ineffective because her students are stupid. Shes wasting your money.
No, you’re missing the point. I’m not saying the teacher shouldn’t be fired. All I’m asking is, should someone be fired if they’re telling the truth? If these students really ARE stupid, is the situation different than if they’re NOT stupid.
I don’t know this teacher, but she might actually care about the kids and she’s frustrated because she’s not allowed to teach them — I have no idea. I just want to know if you can now be fired if you are stating facts.
I hate the government education system because it’s utterly and totally worthless, not because of this woman.
What are the things that “make children stupid” you might ask. Maybe the fact that parents don’t participate in their child’s education, maybe because the expect the teacher to babysit all day, but don’t they dare discipline the child!!! Do ya’ll knw that if a student pulls a weapon on a teacher or attacks them, that they are not “allowed to fight back”??? Why, because parents don’t have time to raise their children right or participate, but don’t you dare “touch my child”!!! The public schools that used to care and did a good job and were loaded with dedicated teachers are long gone. All because parents started making the rules rather than the teachers, that apply in the classroom. And if a teach breaks one of the parent’s rules, there is hell to pay. That is why it’s a mess. Government goobers up the show, but parents are to blame too.

Maybe if you listened to the tape, your post would be more interesting. Your attempt to be contraversial is boring, because its clearly flamebait. Please try harder next time.
