Ask Permission to Use eBay?

So, have you recently asked your government permission to sell things on eBay? What? You haven’t? Then perhaps you need to be jailed for punishment. Well, that’s what the state of Pennsylvania thinks. Seriously.

Oh, and it takes six to eight months to get this permission. And yes, the state can deny you permission if they don’t happen to like you. Explain to me why this should be illegal? Can you tell me why I should be required to ask the state permission to sell things to other people who want to buy them? Can anyone explain to me how any harm will come to any person when I sell an item, voluntarily, that someone wants to buy? And I’m not even talking about “illegal” items — I’m talking about me selling your old used printer that you don’t want. The state of PA actually says that I should be jailed if I sell your printer for you to someone who wants it for a price you want. Wow. Freedom really is dead in this country, isn’t it? I’m not saying anywhere else is better, just that if you happen to want freedom on this planet today, you’re just plain out of luck.

  1. Gotta love how that government camel sticks its nose under the tent. So much for the free market online.

  3. Considering the fact that the last “purchase I made on Ebay” I paid promptly and never got the goods, filed a complaint about it and after a few weeks Ebay just deep sixed the complaint from what I can tell… I wish the state were involved… then I’d use the Washington State Prosecutor’s office to sue the jerk! Actually, I think it is more “Big Brother” crap happening with this. The best way to “clear stuff out of your attic is Ebay! Shame on Pennslyvania!

  4. You may do nothing in this country without asking government permission — and in many cases, paying government their bribe (taxes).
