McCain on Guns

I know many people are attempting to rally conservatives* around McCain, often working on the theory that he’s not “as bad” as BillaryBama. However, I’m finding myself quite in agreement with Chuck Baldwin, who says:

Let me say it straight out: a John McCain Presidency would be far worse than a Barack Obama Presidency.

Go ahead, follow the link and read why. Some very interesting stuff there about McCain that not a lot of people know about.

  1. See, i agree with the reasoning that an Obamessiah or Hillbilly presidency could get conservatives fired up, however, in the meantime, we would be dealing with the far, far, far left agenda, and, since there will probably still be a democrat controlled congress, by the time they get done, it may not matter.

My personal opinion is that in politics, sometimes you have to settle for the lesser of two evils. Sure, we would prefer someone other then McCain. But, we have to go to the polls with the candidate we have (to misquote Rumsfeld.) If he wins, conservatives can spend the time in the intermeaning years working on getting more conservatives elected, and the conservative agenda.

Not to get to fiesty or start a flame war, but, I am thinking in terms of what is best for the country overall, rather then for our Party. That is what led Democrats to be who they are, by thinking only of what is good for the party, rather then the party.

  2. You know, Teach, I want to join you. I really do. I don’t know what will happen come November, if I have to choose between McCain and BillaryBama. Right now, those words just echo in my head:

    “No good is no good.”

It’s not like McCain is even CLOSE to agreeing with me. I’m not sure there’s one single issue where he and I are on the same side. It’s not about party — it’s about ideas. I don’t like any ideas of nearly any of the choices. I don’t think ANY of those three are good for the country — and I’m not sure that McCain is less worse than the others right now.

  3. I’m currently trending about 55-45 for McCain. Can you feel my excitement?

  4. Heh, thanks for stopping by, Dean. I’m guessing you’re still considering whether or not to donate that nickel you found on the sidewalk to McCain’s campaign…

  5. Ok, I give. I went to McCain’s senator website and searched for this information. I found a lot on his opinions of guns but nothing on this. Where is it???

  6. On what part? The link in the post goes to a person’s site who points out McCain’s past history and votes on this issue, no matter what McCain says today…

  7. if obama wins he will be the most anti gun president in the history of the US he is for prosecuting people who use guns for self-defense he is for baning the sale of almost all hunting ammunition and for increasing taxes on firearms and ammunition by 500%

  8. I don’t know. It will be tough to be more anti-gun than Clinton. Then again, Schumer will pass LOTS of seriously anti-gun stuff that Obama will sign because Obama will sign anything the Democrats send him.
