China Olympics
I’m still a big fan of the Olympics. I like the athletic competition. More specifically, I like the amateur athletic competition. Not ONE professional athlete who competes in the Olympics has my respect. For those who don’t realize it, the Olympics used to have a rule that if you were a paid athlete in ANY sport, you couldn’t compete in the Olympics. In other words, if you were a Major-League Baseball player, you couldn’t compete in bobsledding. Those were good rules.
This year the Olympics are to be held in China. Recent news reports have highlighted that the athletes are not allowed to say anything bad about China or they won’t be allowed to compete. Actually, I don’t have much of a problem with rules like this. After all, the sporting event is about cooperation between countries. It’s not supposed to be a political event and the athletes aren’t supposed to be pawns. But guess what? I’m not an Olympic athlete — so I can talk all I want.
Read about what’s happening in China RIGHT NOW in preparation for the Olympics. read about Pastor Hua Huiqi who is repeated arrested for being Christian. Read about how the Chinese government welded the doors to his house shut — with him inside — and how the police arrested his 77 year old mother for walking NEAR where the Olympics are to be held.
Make no mistake about it — China is hosting the games because they want cash — and they are afraid of the judgment of the world when the truth about persecution is exposed. Hopefully the news media will actually report on some of the crushing of freedom by the Chinese government while they’re looking for “human interest” stories between events.

It’s awful. And not anything new…been going on for decades.
Why do we even have trade agreements with this country? It’s just wrong- morally and ethically.
I think I understand the idea behind the trade agreements — to show the people of the country freedom. The problem is, we don’t have freedom to show them any more. The Chinese government can today, I believe, show them America and in many cases (except religion), the people of China can say, “Gee, I don’t want that. Save me, government.”
Now when it comes to religious freedom, America still (at least for the moment) does lead the world. We’re losing these freedoms nearly daily, but we’ve still got more than anyone else, and we need to support people in China who want that freedom, too.
