The Liberty dollar

Some people may wonder why the current situation with the Liberty dollar bothers me so much. I’ve never bought any Liberty dollars. I don’t own any. Yet, according to some, I’m insane for not condemning these people as nuts. Well tell me what you think of this situation:

You are sitting at home. Police show up and take your business. They take your property. They take all your records. And they take gold that you have purchased legally. Then they disappear. And no one, not one single person, is arrested or even charged with a crime. Did you catch that? Millions of dollars in assets taken, but absolutely no one has been charged with committing any crime. And this isn’t supposed to bother me? Does anyone want to bet if this fellow ever sees a single dime of his property again?

Fred Sanford writes that “this could be the big one.” I’m not sure there’s enough people paying attention left in this country. I’m amazed, but it does seem true that the vast, vast majority of people (I’m thinking in the range of 98-99%) simple do not care. They really just don’t want freedom. I mean sure, they’ll take it if someone hands it to them, but they’re not going to DO anything about it.

Szandor Blestman provides more analysis. This is quite similar to previous attempts by the US government to simply take all gold out of the hands of individuals. And since no one appears to care that they took $20 million from one person, you can be sure no one will care when they start targeting individuals for seizures. I hope the government doesn’t have any records of any gold you might own — they can just come and take it without arresting you or charging you with any crime at all. They just did, and no one noticed.

The New York Sun is reporting that the owner who just had his property seized isn’t going down without a fight. He says that he’ll fight until he gets it all back. Everyone, please meet Don Quixote. The government doesn’t give back things they take, ever. Barter used to be legal — but based on these actions, it is not. Oh, they won’t charge him with bartering illegally — my guess is that they’ll end up charging him with not paying income tax on his earnings or not collecting sales tax on his gold coin sales. Either way, it will be total crap dreamed up so that the government can continue to steal property at will when they want to.

In case you want to hear what happened first hand, you can read about it on the Liberty Dollar web site. Well, at least until the government shuts that down, too, because, well, because they want to. No need to break laws, just make the government mad at you, and they will seize your property. And again, in case you missed it, no one has been charged with breaking any laws or been arrested.

Now don’t you feel so much safer knowing that for TWO YEARS the FBI has been spending untold hours and millions of taxpayer dollars so they could come up with “evidence” to shut this fellow down? No, we don’t need more help fighting terrorists, we’ve clearly got so many people fighting terrorists that we can spend resources and taxpayer money to shut down a person who mints coins.

I have some gold. It’s in my house. Apparently I need to hide it and ensure the shotgun stays loaded for when thieves come in the night to steal my gold without asking permission and without me breaking any laws. It happened to Bernard von NotHaus, what makes you think it won’t happen to you?

  1. Special Thanks to the “Unknown Clerk” who “accidently released the documents” or we probably wouldn’t know the details if we depended on the MSM.

["The apparent affidavit was posted on the Internet on Friday by the libertarian think tank, the Reason Foundation. A spokeswoman for the U.S. attorney's office in Charlotte, N.C., told the Washington Post that a court clerk had mistakenly made court documents in the case public."]

Sounds like a commie attack not only on freedom, but on Ron Paul, Libertarianism, and God (they didn’t like the “Trust in God” verbage on the coins!). This is our government acting like the gestapo!

  2. I still can’t get over the fact that they’ve seized millions of dollars and NO ONE has been charged with doing ANYTHING wrong!!!

  3. I came home last night to my Property Tax Bill. You see, the State of Indiana was late getting the tax rates out to the counties… like about 9 months late! Now the County Treasurer is usuing a legislative law that states the counties have to give taxpayers at least 2 weeks before the due date to state that the full years taxes must be paid by December 10th!!!!! Never mind that there are about 1400 abandoned homes, almost as many foreclosures and over a 1000 jobs lost in the last year alone in this county.
The law was designed so taxpayers would have at least a couple of weeks to come up with half the total bill to pay the 1st of 2 installments on May 10th, Not the total bill in December! I am furious and have contacted an attorney friend to find out about taking a class action against the State and County! Talk about robbers and runaway, out of control government! My total bill due in about 3 weeks… $802.32 !!! Merry Freakin Christmas Judy!

  4. That’s your annual rent. Yes, in this country you are not permitted to own land at all. You must pay your yearly rent or they will take your land from you without hesitation.

At least you don’t have your taxes escrowed — here in NC, most lenders require you to escrow your taxes — so no one has to actually ever pay the bill, it’s just a portion of your monthly payment. Then, when property taxes increase, people just don’t notice because they just don’t see the thousands of dollars they’re charged each year. When people see the bill all at once like you are, they tend to get angry…

  5. It is just the manipulation of the law that they pull to justify not doing “the right thing” that gets my goat. NH is looking better and better. I’m so freaked out and going to apply for a parttime job this evening. With all this government messing me over, I can’t get ahead! Send me some Vasilene ASAP!!!!!

  6. Oh, this is the government. You don’t get any Vasoline, honey.
