Fred Supporters
So, is Fred out? Maybe not yet, but Saturday night’s speech sure sounded like he was done. And now I’ve heard that Fred’s supporters have started an email campaign to encourage Fred to say in the race. I’m not going to speculate on whether Fred is going to continue or what chance he has. Instead, I’d like to speculate on where his supporters should go if he does leave.
Jeff Katz, local afternoon guy on 1110 WBT is a BIG Fred supporter. Leading up to the SC primary, his afternoon show was all Fred, all the time. Yesterday, he posed this question — where do Fred supporters go? He framed the possible answers with his personal bias, but was mostly correct.
Could Fred Heads go to Giuliani? Fred disagrees with Rudy on nearly every social issue that exists.
Could Fred Heads go to Huckabee? Fred disagrees with Mike on nearly every economic issue that exists.
Could Fred Heads go to McCain? Fred disagrees with John on every Constitutional issue that exists.
So what’s left? Jeff Katz suggested Romney — because “We all know the issues with Paul.” Well, Fred actually agrees with Paul on conservative issues, only disagreeing on the Iraq war and interventionism. As for Romney, well, I personally cannot support him because Romney thinks I should be jailed because I don’t want to buy the health insurance he, personally, thinks I should have.
So where do Fred Heads go? If you’re a Fred Head, what do you think? You either stay home or you HAVE to pick someone that you disagree with on some level. There simply is no one left that takes all the positions that Fred has. I would argue that Paul’s positions are closer to Fred than anyone else’s…

I’m a Fredhead and if he’s out I’m staying home.
I understand that decision completely. I know if the options are Romney, Rudy, or McCain, I’m not voting for them, either.
Or Huckabee either. Chuck Norris and Ric Flair be damned.
I really like Chuck Norris. But I can’t say for sure I wouldn’t vote for the Huckster. I mean, he’s pretty bad on many positions. I certainly don’t support him. But I *MIGHT* be able to hold my nose and vote for him. I’m not sure yet.
I’d probably go 3rd party.
Also have toyed with the idea of voting dumocrat, because it’s better for them to ruin america then a republican in dumcrats clothes.
Maybe 4 years of a nanny state dumocrat is what people need to really see them for what they really are.
Good points, QW. I’m not sure anyone will be running 3rd party this year. I’m thinking of writing in “Mickey Mouse.”
