NC Auditor Web Browsing
An article was pointed out to me regarding the North Carolina Auditor’s staff surfing Democrat web sites. The newspaper article makes it clear that they think “someone” in the office of the North Carolina Auditor is using state time and money to view the Democrat web site as part of campaign research, or somehow related to campaigns.
Now don’t forget — this is the Left Wing Puppet, The News and Observer “reporting.” And they’re “reporting” on their enemy, Republican Les Merritt who is the currently elected North Carolina Auditor. And also don’t forget, he’s running against a former employee in his offices, Democrat Beth Wood.
In other words, a Democrat who once worked for Les Merritt, in his capacity as state auditor, is running against him. And there are other current employees of Mr. Merritt that were co-workers of Miss Wood. Do you think there might be one or two of these career government bureaucrats that might still support Miss Wood? Let’s take a look, shall we?
I headed over to the NC Auditor’s web site. On the site, one can find a list of current bureaucrats employees. Did you know that you can also look up any North Carolina registered voter on the board of elections web site? I decided to take some employee names and put them in to see what I might find.
Some names were common names and difficult to determine which record might belong to the State Auditor’s employee list. However, most names, when entered into the state system, returned just one record. In surveying the data, I only used voter records that I could verify the match between the auditor’s records and the state’s records. Any other records were not counted.
Looking up each of the employees gave one of four results. The employee may not have been found, which assumes that the person is simply not registered to vote. The record may return a party registration, either R or D. Finally, the record may say “Unaffiliated” which in North Carolina generally means “Democrat but embarrassed to admit it” or “I’m politically neutral, so I can claim I’m moderate, but I almost always vote Democrat.”
The web site lists 188 employees. Now, unlike newspaper reporters, I’m not paid to spend my time looking up facts for “news” stories, so I didn’t have time to look up all 188. Instead, I took a random sample of the 188. As part of that sample, again, any names that could not be verified were not counted. In the end, I had 51 employees with verified matches in the board of elections records:
Democrats: 21 – 41%
Unaffiliated: 13 – 25%
Not Registered: 9 – 18%
Republicans: 8 – 16%
In other words, of the employees of Les Merritt, Republican North Carolina auditor, 84% of them are NOT Republicans. To suggest, based on a random log sampling from the NC Democrats web site — who has a vested interest in making Mr. Merritt look bad — that Republicans are using taxpayer time to research is insane. Instead, based on facts, it’s more than TWICE as likely that Democrats in Mr. Merritt’s employ are disobeying his direct orders and are goofing off reading the NC Democrat Party web site.
But to report that would be contrary to the purpose of the News and Observer.
