Governor McCrory?

Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory (Socialist Republican Party) is still not talking about his run for governor. There’s a primary election on May 6th where the two parties (only two are allowed by law in North Carolina) will decide which people they will permit to run for election in the general election in November. The Republican Party already has a number of people running — some who have been running for governor for nearly a year now.

McCrory will not say he is running, but he has already formed a committee and started (apparently) raising money. There is a rumor that he might not run (I wonder if he will return donations in that case). He feels quite powerful, I’m sure, after winning election to Mayor of Charlotte seven times. Of course, he doesn’t stand a chance.

You see, North Carolina hates Charlotte. There are dozens of reasons why, but the bottom line is that people from Charlotte simply cannot and will not win a statewide election — just because they’re from Charlotte. Many others have tried over the years. It simply cannot be done — especially by a Republican Party member. But hey, go ahead, Mr McCrory. Give it a shot. But don’t be surprised if some of your support mirrors the support you have given others in the past — all talk and no action.

  1. Why does North Carolina hate Charlotte? Do tell. I was looking at contract positions this morning and there were several with one company that were located in Charlotte and Durham. I thought to myself… higher cost of living… lower wage scale… state run by libtards for the last 100 years… NOT!!!!! About 5 years ago I tried hard to find work in the Raleigh-Durham and Greensboro area thinking NC would be a nice state to relo to. But you, my friend have changed all of that! LOL!!!! Now I think I may focus on Georgia and Texas! See what kind of influence you have!!!! ROTFLMBO!!!!! Thought about NH and the Free State Project but at my age making a change in location is enough, but going to a harsher winter and looking at the Primary results… I think the urge to find a warmer climate in a Republican state will win out!!!! :-)

  2. The weather’s nice in North Carolina. That’s the biggest and primary draw, believe it or not. People will literally overlook just about everything else for the weather — which I think is one reason the Free State Project is struggling.

As for the rest of the state, there’s tons of reasons. One primary reason is jealousy. Charlotte is an economic powerhouse. They’ve got enormous piles of money. The majority of the rest of the state is agriculture and manufacturing. Other big cities are liberal education centers.

Most of the rest of the state just hates Charlotte because of all the money and waste there. Charlotte politicians, even in the state assembly, can get little to nothing done — simply because they’re from Charlotte. Republicans from Charlotte who run in statewide races get about 10-20% less of the vote than a Republican statewide who is not from Charlotte.

Strangely enough, I’ve run the numbers — there’s actually enough people in the 11- county area around Charlotte to win a statewide election — but you’d have to get a huge percentage of those 11 counties. My guess is that’s what McCrory is looking at as well.

The primary results from NH were more disturbing to me in the number of people who voted in the Democrat primary. I think perhaps it’s already too late for New Hampshire and that there’s too many Democrats “escaping” MA to recover at this point.

Maybe it’s time to check out the South Carolina secession movement again.

  3. How about Montana or Wyoming. If you don’t like the politics… well there’s lots of open space where you can hide and pout without having em in your face! LOL!!!! And even if you were in in a predominately Democrat State, just invite a few hundred of your conservative friends and family to come on out and you change the numbers!!! LOL!!! Actually my cousin is living in Charleston, SC and has told me I can come out anytime and stay with him and look for work. That’s the birthplace of Succession and it sounds good to me. LOL!!!! (I’m a Good Ole Rebel from waaaay back!)

  4. There was a secessionist movement in SC (Christian Exodus), but I think they’ve pretty much died out. There is discussion now amongst some people about how to secede in small numbers — like one town. What dominates mostly is how quickly the federal government would show up and kill everyone. I’ve reached the point that if there’s a secessionist movement, I don’t care where it is, I’m in.

  5. Me too Ogre, me too. I have always felt State’s rights was part of the original plan anyway!

  6. States have had NO rights since the war between the states. None. They have none today, period.

  7. I think that needs to change… I wish I were in the land of cotton…

  8. Change? You want change? Well just vote for any politicians — they’re ALL running for “change.”

Of course, their meaning of “change” has nothing to do with the actual meaning of the word.

  9. My change is more like a Revolution!!!! A coup de graux!!!!! Your cartoon captures their meaning of “Change”!!! I almost feel like I used foul language on that other post!!! Forgive me Ogre!!!!! :-D

  10. Hehe.
