Praying in Public Illegal

Yes, in America.

While the war on Christmas heats up, as it does every year, with those who hate and despise anything good work hard to get any public signs of Christmas removed from sight, the war on Christians continue. Did you know that if you pray on a public sidewalk in Aurora, IL, you can be jailed? No, not for doing anything else, just for walking down the sidewalk and saying a prayer. The police chief defends that policy, too. The police chief says that you can pray at home, just not on a public sidewalk.

Aurora Police Chief William Powell basically says that there is a law against you expressing your religion in a public place. You are prohibited from freely exercising your religion. You do not have freedom of speech on his sidewalk. And you do not have the right to peaceably assemble on his public sidewalk. No word from the chief is you have the right to petition your government.

But realize in America, as I’ve mentioned before, the Constitution simply does not exist. I am personally amazed that a police officer can actually stand there and tell someone that they’re going to be arrested if they don’t stop praying on the sidewalk. I think if I were told that, I’d just be speechless. Then I think I’d continue praying in the hopes that someone, somewhere in what passes for a government today, would actually support the Constitution. However, knowing how much the Constitution is supported by government today, I bet I’d end up in jail.

Wouldn’t it be neat to have a country where people were free to exercise their religion? Oh, how I yearn for freedom.

  1. Hey Ogre, the government now wants us to not drink bottled water. They are telling us once again… what is good and what is bad for us!

Argument is all wet - From the Competitve Enterprise Institute….

Why would lawmakers deny firefighters bottled water? And why would churches feel the need to condemn this commodity? Apparently, some local governments and some private parties feel that bottled water is wasteful and they want to rest of us to stop drinking it. In particular, they maintain that energy needed to transport the bottles is too high and contributes needlessly to climate change…

More bad science and mandates brought to you by Big Brother…uh, er…. Government!

  2. No Salt, no Bottle Water, no Prayers… what’s next????

  3. Anything that takes any bit of power from the government. They will tell you what you should do — because that’s how they create their jobs for their people. I’ll tell you, going over to the dark side sure it tempting…

  4. Government pays bad, you are better off being a “contractor” working for the government! LOL!!!

  5. Government may pay bad, but the benefits cannot be beat, I can get paid for doing almost nothing, and it’s nearly impossible to get fired.

I’d just have to give up on morality and a sense of responsibility.

  6. You’re a Marine Vet and a Christian Ogre… you may as well forget it! That sense of brotherhood and honor and being filled with the Holy Spirit will stop you cold from being the “scheister” you have to be to work for the government!!!

  7. Besides…. “Friends don’t let friends work for the Government”!!!! :-D

  8. It’s true. I have considered it, but I just can’t get over being a total drain on society. I can’t lower my standards that much.

  9. The Corps will do that to a man. :-D My father always had way too much integrity and high standards because of it. :-)

  10. I’m told that bothers a lot of people. That and the self-confidence…

  11. The problems I see is the fact that insecure people dominate the population. They see people who have overcome their fears or short comings to accomplish something… and the green color of envy comes out.
Earning the Eagle, Globe and Anchor is no small task and it transforms a man (or a woman) in ways many can’t understand. It’s higher standards but it is also loyalty that is very life saving and extreme. I don’t know how many I’ve spoken with that credit their being alive to the brotherhood they share with comrades. They litterally get through the hard times because of the desire to be there for their fellow Marines. You can’t buy that, you can’t train in a classroom to accomplish it, and many will be envious of that standard, the love comradship brother Marines have for one another all their lives. The same people who envy that are the same ones who envy you if you get a college degree or marry well and have great, healthy kids who accomplish good things, etc. My Dad told me there were three things he was proudest to accomplish, becoming a Christian and having that relationship with Christ, earning the right to call himself a United States Marine, and having the family he had with my mother. He never even included being skilled trades in that!!! I think there are more jealous people with insecurities in the world than there are happy people who truly “know themselves”. :-) But those same insecure, jealous people will be quick to look to you if their life is in danger!

  12. And much worse — those insecure people tend to believe everyone ELSE is also insecure. Therefore, since they need “help,” everyone ELSE needs help, too. And way too many of them simply look to government to help — like Mike Huckabee. He has openly and clearly said that if people don’t donate money to his personal causes to “help” people, he will use force to TAKE that money from you to “help” other people.

I’d suggest everyone be forced to enlist in the Marines to make them better people, but I don’t want to have to relax the standards of the Marines that much…

  13. LOL!!! Good point Ogre!

If you want to see how insecure and messed up people across the country really are… check your email. I guarantee you will get some good laughs out of it.

  14. Indeed. That, or I can just go out in public and look around. It’s just darn scary sometimes.

I don’t hold anything against those people — I just cannot stand all those who want to tell ME what to do because of the ignorant or stupid. That’s just wrong.
