The Bailout Joke

This entire bailout has been a disaster, just as I predicted. It’s absolutely insane that those who supported the bailout are now crying because it’s doing EXACTLY what it was supposed to do. The bailout that passed Congress was a blatantly unconstitutional abdication of power. It did, as the bill stated, give hundreds of billions of dollars to one unelected person to spend as they saw fit. There was, as I pointed out, NO oversight of the spending of money.

But now Congress wants answers. If there were even one shred of honestly in Washington, DC, Paulson would just repeat, over and over again, “You morons gave me the cash to spend as I want. So I’m spending it. Piss off.”

If there were any honestly or responsibility in Congress, we wouldn’t be hearing from Democrats (and Republicans) who supported the bailout whining about, “Gee, I didn’t know.” Instead, we’d hear those same Congressmen saying, “Well, I though it was best to give a couple people a few hundred billion. I though it was better than holding people responsible for their own actions. In fact, I thought taking hundreds of billions from working people and giving it to one person was a good idea. I guess I was wrong.”

Don’t hold your breath.

Instead, this is going to be completely spun as Bush’s fault. Then, when Obama is president, the Democrats will pass an even LARGER bailout — following the Socialist Democrat platform to a “T”: “It hasn’t worked yet because we haven’t spend enough money and the right people weren’t in charge.” Mark my words, that WILL absolutely be the Democrat refrain come January. Anyone want to bet?

This is the same policy that’s been tried for the war on poverty. How’s that one working out? Oh, right, just a little more money. This is the same as the “war” on drugs. How many hundreds of billions have been spent there? How’s that one going? Maybe this is the same as the government education system. We’re spending hundreds of billions there, but the refrain still is that they just need “a little more.”

Government is utterly incapable of fixing ANY problem. Spending more only makes the problem worse — EVERY single time, without exception. But until a majority of voters understand that, there is no way out. Unfortunately, the majority of voters are educated by a system designed to ensure they don’t know that. So again I say, Freedom is gone in America and I don’t see it coming back any time soon. It is truly sad, but every civilization has to end some time.

  1. I have to concur… McCain’s visit to Chicago guaranteed Liebermann his chairmanship, in exchange for that 60th filibuster proof vote… in fact the magic number they now appear to have achieved, and the bailouts are just the first shot across the financial bow and initial use of the Democrats’ newfound dictatorial powers of a one party government. So much for “silver linings”, and too late to hide the silver-ware……

Seeing how the Democrats have been lining up the government for this takedown, I now think I have a better understanding of how Poland felt on August 31, 1939, the day before the launch of the “Polish campaign”, a day like many others, where the rest of the world was only passingly interested, and Poland was in the crosshairs of the carnage to come.

  2. I will find it rather interesting to watch. I imagine it’s possible that under this administration, during the next four years, they will find that they will actually run out of money. It could happen soon that there’s just not enough people working and producing money for the government to take. I will be interested to see what the government will do. Their first and most likely option, I think, will be just to print more money. And we all know how that will work, just look at Zimbabwe…
