It’s NOT your money
So, I bet you are one of those people who still think that the American government is “by the people” and other such rot, aren’t you? Well, do you remember that massive, hundred-trillion dollar bailout (I know, they claimed it was less, but just mark my words) that passed a little while back? That was allegedly your representatives who passed a bill to spend your money. And when it passed, it was quite clear, in the media and to your representatives, who were glad to repeat to you over and over again that the plan was to buy up “troubled assets” (whatever that means) to help the economy. That’s all, nothing more.
But that was another day. Now, one unelected bureaucrat, Paulson, has decided that since he was personally given that $700 billion to spend as he sees fit, he’s not going to do that. Instead, he wants to do something else with the $700 billion cash that is now HIS money. He wants to buy banks and other businesses, so he’s going to buy them. Nope, it doesn’t matter that the $700 billion came directly from you few people left who work and pay taxes. No, it does not matter what the Congress and your “representatives” directed how to spend that money. It’s HIS money now, and he’ll do what he wants with it.
Keep claiming that we have a representative republic. One day you too may realize that the emperor has no clothes.

The whole thing is just nuts. It’s like all processes and procedures have just evaporated and we now have a dictatorship with 500+ dictators rushing about in a panic, handing out money.
Wild.
It all makes counterfeiting look respectable.
You’re right, KT. It’s completely nuts — and there’s nothing that the people of the country can do. We have no say in this nightmare that’s called a government any more.
