A Leadership Speech
Today, I rise before you in this august body of the United States Senate to stand up for freedom. I realize that from all reports, we are in the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression. I understand that the president himself has worked hard to work with business leaders to craft a plan to help businesses. I understand that the Democrats in Congress have worked hard to protect themselves on this issue. I realize that there are many who claim that this bill has protections for the taxpayer in it. But today I rise to honestly stand up for the taxpayer.
I stand here today to tell the Congress and indeed the world, that this is The United States of America — the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave. We are a strong people, and a hard-working people. We are brave enough to take risks — and to accept the consequences of our actions. We are a free people — and one of our freedoms has to be the freedom to fail. If we do not have the freedom to fail, then we have no freedom to succeed. If we do not have the freedom to take risks, we cannot profit. If government will take our freedom to invest, our country, indeed, our very freedom will be gone.
That is why I rise today, in the US Senate — to strongly and openly oppose this horrible bill that helps everyone BUT the taxpayer. This bill helps those on wall street — by giving them large amounts of money. This bill helps the members of this very body — by preserving their big donors in the business world. But government cannot give away one single dollar without first taking that dollar by force from the very people who have worked and earned that dollar.
This bill is wrong, and there is no way to “improve” it and make it better. Instead, I stand with millions of Americans today, some of whom voted for me, and I stand to say “No More.” No more will government take billions of dollars from the many to help the few. No More will I stand up and vote for support for big business at the expense of small business. And No More will I vote for any bill that crushes the freedoms of all Americans.
I will fight with every breath I have, until there is no breath left in my body, against this bill. I will do everything in my power to ensure that this bills fails — for if this fails, freedom wins. If this bill fails, America wins.
I, Ogre, provide this speech free of charge for Juan McCain. Heck, I’ll even vote for him if he gives this speech on the Senate floor today. And know what? Millions of others will vote for him too. In fact, if Juan McCain stood up and gave this speech, I bet he’d win at least 40 states in the election in November. Because this speech is true, it’s what millions of Americans want, and it would take real balls to stand up and give this speech — and Americans LOVE that. Imagine that — politicians who are elected by the people actually doing what people want. Hey, it could happen…
Feel free to contact your Senators today. You can give them a copy of my speech to help them on the Senate floor if they like. I suggest you each contact them numerous times and flood their servers once again.
Oh, and in case you’re wondering — the crap the Senate is voting on is almost the same pile of crap that the House just rejected — only with MORE pork to buy votes — literally, and the Senate openly admits that. And you thought pork earmarks were only for other bills.
And another thing to show how much guts this speech really would take to read — but how much people would appreciate it. Did you know that despite Bush’s pleading for the House version that his state House Reps voted 22-9 AGAINST it? In Arizona, not one House member supported it. If McCain had a clue, he would use this speech.
Update #1: It appears that Senate servers are crashing, too. GOOD. Feel free to call them, if you can get through.
Update #2: HOLY CRAP! The new bailout is FOUR HUNDRED AND FIFTY ONE PAGES! Now I’m 100% sure that not one Senator has read that thing, nor will read it before the vote. Someone STOP THESE BASTARDS. (H/T to Michelle Malkin for pointing this one out).
