Edwards’ Forgiveness
So, have you heard about John Edwards running around asking people to forgive him? Apparently he’s calling, over and over again, people who worked for him and he’s asking them to forgive him. And from what I read, he’s getting a very hostile response.
That’s incredibly sad.
Do I forgive John Edwards? Well, he hasn’t called me (nor have I worked for him). If he calls me, would I? In a heartbeat. Seriously. I think that John Edwards finally gets it. Now I could be wrong — he could be doing all this just to try and place himself in a position to take power and run for election again. But that’s not for me to decide and determine. If John Edwards is serious about honestly asking for forgiveness, I think everyone should forgive him, without a doubt. I think this incident says more about John Edwards’ supporters than about him.

I met John Edwards at a meet & greet in 1997 — was just another sleezy lawyer then too. People’s income may change, but they don’t.
Nice thread. It’s amazing what Democrats will do to bash Bush. I didn’t read every post, but I almost bet that somewhere in there they actually blamed Bush for Edwards’ affair.
As I mentioned — I don’t know if Edwards is honestly asking for forgiveness or if this is a plan of his. My point is that if he asked me, I’d forgive him. I’m rather unimpressed with the vast numbers of his Democrat supporters who do not.
Ogre, I think it may be because you know Christ told us all we are to forgive our brother “boo coo times” (I can’t remember exactly… must be getting senile!). My heart goes out to his wife, and I do feel deep compassion for her. Edwards himself…. kind of pathetic, but I thought that before this all came out.
Anyway, I think if more Dems were filled with the Spirit, they would be more forgiving.
And that’s why I think that Edward’s may be sincere. He’s going out of his way to ask others to forgive him. Perhaps that’s because he knows that it’s the right thing to do — or perhaps it’s because he read the Bible.
Stranger things have been known to happen. The one thing I never could understand though, is it is hard to tell if someone acts out of remorse or if they are just sorry they got caught. Time usually tells though.
And to be honest, it’s not my job to make that determination. Edwards knows in his heart if this is real repentance or not.
You’ve got to be kidding me! I’ve known Edwards for a very long time…years (since the days of the Lakey pool drain, and his use of that tragedy for his own personal gain and political ambitions). This guy is a waste of DNA, and I hardly believe he’s been involved in the evolutionary process, much less christianity. He’s a cretin of the first order. The only person needing forgiveness is his mother.Go ahead and ask me how I really feel…go ahead…..
I can certainly understand your feelings, Daryl, as I know exactly how Edwards got all his cash and his incredibly slimy dealings to do so — but I have to give him the benefit of the doubt on this one, I really do.

Putin’s unapologetic. And I’m not saying I support Edwards for, well, dog catcher…
Personally, I’d almost rather have the honesty of an unapologetic slimeball, than an apologetic one whose apology is for the sole purpose of furthering his original slimeball position under the cloak of forgiveness.
You want honesty in politics in America? That is simply not going to happen. I wish it could, but I can’t see it ever happening, except perhaps at a local level.
