Hooray for (Oppressive) Government!
Now I do realize that the United States government is nowhere near as bad as China or North Korea. I realize that the US is not Saudi Arabia, punishing people for wearing the wrong clothes. But at the same time, I realize that America is NOT the home of the free. Instead, we, like many other citizens, live in fear of our government. Sure, you may claim that you don’t, but I bet your heart starts beating faster when you pass a policeman, doesn’t it?
Our government today is not about the people. It’s a bureaucracy that says and does anything it wants to — and you have NO say in the matter.
One state government has said that the government is supreme to the voter. The court actually said that the interests of the state are SUPREME to the voters. In other words, the state can and do quite literally anything it wants, no matter what the voters think. That is not freedom, that’s not even a republic. That’s totalitarianism. And it’s right here in America.
This is a government that honestly believes they can do anything to anyone. If they break into your house and you’ve done nothing wrong, their agents are not even sorry about it — they actually feel they have the right to do anything to any one at any time for any reason. Seriously, that’s the position of government in America today. They do not believe they answer to anyone but themselves.
And while I believe in the Bible, I am not welcome to participate in the government. The government has very clearly ruled that if I believe in the Bible, then I am automatically disqualified to participate in a jury. The way our government was set up was to specifically ALLOW people to be judged by a jury of other people. In today’s government, you are to be judged only by a judge and the judge will tell the jury what to do and what to say. The freedom of the jury box is simply gone.
Finally, if I want the freedom to open a business and serve people that I want to serve, I am not welcome in America today. If people come to me and demand that I have no religious beliefs, the government will show up with them and use force to make me reject my beliefs. If I don’t, then I will be jailed by this very same government. You think that passes for freedom? Well, Jesus did say that his followers would be persecuted for following him. I guess I just didn’t expect it so much in America today. Boy was I wrong.
